I could see the sun beaming thru our partially open blinds when my alarm clock shook me awake. I turned it off with one hand and rubbed my eyes with the other. Patting my bed side table for my glasses and lazily adjusting them on the bridge of my nose.
I heard a loud groan from the other side of the room, I almost forgot I had a room mate. I smiled gently looking over at her with her make up smeared on her white pillow case and her mouth wide open. Thrown in front of her bed were party clothes and heels. I walked over to the mini fridge that I keep at the foot of my bed grabbed a water, placed it on her bed side table and slide her trash can next to her bed.
I get dressed to go for my early morning run, carefully sneaking out the room so I don't disturb the beauty sleep of a drama queen.
Once I leave the door of our dorm hall I jump start my jog and go at the pace of the music playing thru my headphones. Feeling the pressure in my chest and the weight on my feet, I looked around at the campus, it really was a great pick I'd say. I can hear the waves crashing against the walls of our campus, since we are next to the shore I can smell the port and hear all the live activities they have going on around the corner. Bright orange buildings tower over our pavilion, at the center of the dorm halls stands a large fountain, surrounding it is a huge courtyard that is home to lush plants and bright flowers. It was still pretty hot given it's so early in the day.
I jog thru the scenery, the morning mist still hasn't subsided and the sun glistened thru the haze.
Is every morning going to look like this? I can get use to it, I wonder how it's going to look around autumn. Well since it's Florida, I doubt it would get cold.
I slow down once I hit the wall of the river, looking at the port is probably going to be my favorite part of the day. I leaned over the side of the wall, I inhaled the sea air and let out a sigh of relief, laughing a bit at my slight exhaustion.
I first started jogging when I was in middle school, I joined the track team, it got my mind off of a lot of things. So my parents let me keep doing it, every morning I'd jog to the private academy and showered in the locker room before classes. It was a routine I thought would be hard to start in college but it is becoming a very smooth transition.
"I don't believe I'll ever tire from seeing you jog in the morning time" I heard Isaiah behind me.
I turn around and see him leaning his arm on the limb of a tree, he took out one AirPod to speak to me. He smiled at me, his little awkward smirk made me roll my eyes.
This guy thinks he's so cute, get a load of him.
"I think I might tire from hearing you gasping for air ever time you jog, what's wrong towel boy? Out of breathe already?"
"Yeah you wish, I'm a very dedicated athlete." He leans his back on the tree lefts out his curly bun, shakes it and re-ties it.
"Oh yeah? What do you play? Lemme guess, Shuffleboard?!!" I chuckle at my own joke and lean my back against the wall.
"Harty har har, no I'm on the football team." He smirked like it's a flex, something to be proud of
Great! Seems like I have a type. NOPE nope, we just started being friends again, he's Casey's Ex and Im not even looking to date anyone right now. Take a deep breath you got this!
"Oh how special you must feel on a team of 32 other people that can do exactly what you do" I rolled eyes and smirked
"Woah, that hurts my feelings" he looked down and put his hand over his heart. He then smiled and looks up at me thru his brows "your gonna have to hug me to make me feel better"
My eyes opened wide and I backed away at the thought of his body fluids touching me. I chuckled nervously and raised my arms to block any surprise attacks "lets not do anything rash now"
He crossed his arms and leaned his back against the tree once more "that much of a germophob huh neat freak?"
I sighed and placed my hands on my hips "like it really matters to you"
"It kinda does cause I-"
"Enough of all this, lets go"
I put my AirPod and start to jog, I turn around and jog backwards to look at him. He looked confused for moment.
I shout "you comin?" And grin, turn back around and stride towards the path ahead of me. I hear a hardy laugh behind me thru my Ariana grande playlist.
He caught up to me, of course, straying his eyes away from the path to catch a glimpse of me from time to time. My face starts to heat up.
My face is heating up because I'm out of breath, not because he's looking at me. It's because I'm running, not because of him. I'm literally run, it's okay for my face to heat up, I'm fine. Feelings are a no go, he's not even that cute.
My grin turned into a smile, I started to laugh, my jog then turned into a run, a fast pace run as if I was running away from him. His cute smile, his cheeky grin, his desire to get closer to me, Him. I'm running away from him.
Once we reach the end of our trail he is hot on my tail, only one step behind me. I pace my self to a stop, smiling ear to ear catching my breath. He lifts his tank top over his head and off his body, grinning he says "look who's out of breath now?"
My eyes gaze to his toned chest, glistening as if the Florida sun made him start to melt. I chuckled and rolled my eyes hoping he didn't notice me staring. "Not like I ever did the 100 meter dash, I'm a marathon type of girl" I place my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath.
Behind us was the school bell tower, very tall and orange just like the other buildings at our school. I looked up squinting as if I'm trying to see what time it is, when I'm standing directly beneath it.
"It's 7:28 if you wanted to know." I turned around quickly and looked at him.
"It's What!? On no I got to go" I lean back on my feet and take a sip of water from the bottle I brought. I dust the dirt off the bottom of my shoes and start to take off.
I feel his gentle hand touch my forearm attempting to keep me from leaving, "hey, hey where are you going Cinderella? I didn't know if it was alright, but I kinda wanted to talk to you a bit more." He rubbed the back of his neck with one hand and gripping his shirt in the other.
"Well unlike you fairy godmother, not everything is all fun and games, I have errands I have run today." I place hand on my hip.
"Fine, fine run your little errands" he backs up slowly, placing his headphone in his ear "I'll meet you at Coffee Me say 12pm, be there." He turns around and jogs off. Leaving me in disbelief.
That entitled pretty boy with his cute messy bun and framed chest, that guy he's UUUGGGGHHHHH! No chance! I'm not falling for it. Not again.
I raced back the dorm to get ready for my day.
Once I made it back, the door was open. Again. Confused I decided to ignore it.
I open the door and step into the room to find Casey walking around the room with absolutely. Nothing. On.
