Thomas wakes the next morning to Newt looking over him. He jumps.

"Pleasant." He says. "That's a pleasant and not at all creepy way to wake up."

Newt laughs. "Get up, Shank. I'm here to help."

"Help?" Thomas asks. "With what?"

"Your ability, shuck-face." Newt says, pulling him up. "I'm here to help you master it."

"But you have a different power." Thomas points out.

"There's no people with your power here, Tommy." Newt says, his face blank. "So Min and me are going to help you!" 

Thomas nods, unsure. "Okay..."

"Let's go." Newt says, grabbing Thomas's hand. "I'll also introduce you to Teresa."

"What's her power?" Thomas asks.

"Water." Newt responds, walking out. 

Minho, a girl and a boy stand there.

"Hey, Minho!" Newt says. "Hey, Teresa! Hey, Aris! Here's the Greenie!"

The boy walks over. "Hey Greenie." He says. "I'm Aris. Fire powers." 

Thomas shakes his hand. "Thomas." 

"So you're a Gold, then?" Aris says.

"I guess so?" Thomas says.

Newt laughs, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Yes." He says. "He is."

"Has he tried anything yet?" Minho asks.

"No." Newt says. 

"How would you know?" Aris asks. "Did you stay with him all night?"

Newt turns slightly pink. "He hasn't, Aris."

Aris widens his eyes, putting his hands up in fake surrender. "Okay. Jeez."

"So, Tommy," Newt says. "Try to pause time. We'll start with that. And take my hand."

"Why?" Thomas asks. 

"So I'll be in the time pause with you, idiot." He says. "Now take my bloody hand." 

Thomas does. "What do I do?" 

"Just...try to stop time." Newt says. "I don't really know. I'm not a Gold, Tommy."

Thomas takes a deep breath. 

"You can do it." Newt says, squeezing his hand.

Thomas closes his eyes and the world starts to swim around him. Then, everything goes quiet for a second. When the noise returns, Newt's jumping up and down.

"TOMMY!" He cries. "YOU DID IT! YOU STOPPED TIME!"

Thomas grins at the boys reaction. Newt hugs him. 

"Holy shit, I didn't think you'd manage the first time." Newt says.

"Newt, get off of him." Minho says. 

Newt releases him, blushing.

"So you did it." Aris says. "Congrats, Greenie."

Thomas looks at the boy shyly. "Thanks."

Minho claps him on the back. "I like you, shank." He says.

Newt leans over so he's talking into his ear. "When you learn to stop time, we should hang out in time together."

Thomas blushes. "I-"

"Newt, leave. Him. Alone." Minho says. 

Newt sighs. "God, Minho. Such a controller."
