A shrill cry echoed in the mist, despite having heard that dreadful sound so many times he'll never get use to how it affects him. He'll never get use to the shiver that runs down his frail frame everytime they scream.

They've haunted these woods for as long as history dates back to, perhaps even longer. Despite their cries being heard for miles, no one has ever seen the creature who makes such a noise. A noise that can bring a grown man to his knees, to bow before the other worldy being. They know it is so much stronger and smarter than they will ever be and so they keep their distance.

But not him...for so many years he has hunted these creatures. The very ones who cause him to cry out in pain at the very mention of their retched voice. The scream that echoes and groans through the dark woods.

He sits and he waits for such things to arrive. For their voice to etch closer and closer to his still, camouflaged body. He remains still, not wanting to somehow scare the God that walks through human lands.

What was it here? What business did it have on earth? What did it look like? Was the noise to attract mates or scare away predators? So many questions ran through his head as he lay. Waiting patiently and silently.

It was getting closer, bit by bit, noise by noise. It slowed to a stop infront of the male. A strange white glow surrounding the creature who now had a picture to go with it. It was small. No bigger than an apple, but its eyes. Its eyes were the most human he had ever seen. They shone with this aquamarine glow. Shimmering despite the dark, dull Forrest. This creature didn't belong on earth. And yet it felt more human than anyone he had met.
