Four days.

That's been how long it's been since he'd last heard from (Y/N). Although he'd stopped by her place various times nobody seemed home and even after visiting the greenhouse even the old woman working there had no clue as to where the (H/C) haired girl had gone.

There were no more good morning texts and no more seeing one another in the evenings.

Which both undoubtedly left the white haired man feeling anxious once more, he'd been anxious throughout the first- second and third day. He honestly didn't know what was happening and answers around it seemed scarce.

Enough so that even his team was unable to find anything.

Walking along the golden sand his eyes moved from each speck towards the stones hidden within said sand, from rock pools to breaking waves.

In the gentle spring sunshine he felt as if he were swimming in the salty air of the ocean nearly choking from its potency. It felt thicker than usual and although the new rays of the day brought a frisson of bright energy the sounds of the ocean simply hit deaf ears.

The silence was so...loud.

It was a day for dreaming, for allowing time to move fast and slow. .but for him time couldn't have moved any slower.

"Uh Excuse me sir?!" Pausing in place and turning towards who'd called out his eyes landed on a familiar black suit and golden badge, both of which belonged to a young looking police officer. Someone he honestly wouldn't really have batted an eye at if not for the familiar set of (E/C) and (H/C).

"Is there something you need, officer?" Shoving his hands into his pockets while asking that ombre hues trailed over the young lad, a worried feeling began to brew itself within the pit of his stomach.

"Are you by chance Leone Abbacchio?"

Narrowing his eyes at the question Abbacchio clicked his tongue, "Depends on who and why you're asking."

At this the officers eyes seemed to have softened a hand reached up to take their hat off, the action itself nearly caused Abbacchios heart to stop.

"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of (Y/N) (L/N)."With that simple sentence he could feel his whole world crumble away in an instant.

"What?" His body felt cold, there was nothing more he wanted or could add merely standing there in shock.

"She'd been involved in a recent hit and run, the culprit of which we are currently searching for but otherwise that is all I can disclose." Keeping his hat off the officer let out a heavy sigh, "I know she meant a lot to you."

Clenching his jaw he took in a breath, "and what makes you say that?"

"She was my sister. Which also gives me permission to give you this." Raising his hat and setting it back onto his head the young man ascended the beaches stairs rummaging through his uniform pocket till a small bag was pulled out.

"I don't quite know what it's form or what it is but the notes on her desk let me know it was for you." Extending out the small back and waiting for him to take it Abbacchio's multicoloured hues stared at it for a second or so.

His hand hesitantly reached up towards the item tugging it out of the (H/C) haired boys grasp.

"I apologize for dumping this onto you. But I will have to be taking my leave now. . .I'm sorry for your loss." Although it was his loss as well the boy proceeded to leave the white haired man by himself along the beach.

Both hands now clutched the bag hesitantly breaking the seal to open it.

His body felt cold, there wasn't anything in the world that could have prepared him for that kind of news.

Reaching into the bag his fingers brushed against some sort of thread as well as a rough yet smooth item. Pulling it out he struggled to swallow staring at the yellow and purple seashell tied crudely with thread.

What it was supposed to be was beyond him. . .but written on the back in neat cursive were four words and a singular heart.
