Clouded skies and a rock covered beach.
It wasn't exactly what he wished to see in his last moments but that's just how it happened. The distant sound of waves brushing against the rocks fluttered through the air passing through his ears till no more sound filtered through them.
He knew death should've been a scary thing, many people feared it but at this point in time- what was there to fear?
His life was never too entertaining, the best part of it was extinguished like a dying flame so what more was there to stay for?
His teammates were strong enough to move forward without him.
Closing his eyes he was not welcomed with a never ending darkness, but instead the bright clear sky above. Much different in contrast to what he'd seen mere seconds ago.
Sitting up from where he was his eyes scanned the lush greenery, flowers of different kinds littered the area leading down to a golden sand covered beach, that of which was attached to a glistening crystal blue sea.
His mouth felt dry, the scene before him was nothing he recalled seeing before but as soon as his eyes traced over the shore did his heart stop.
Sitting along the water's edge was someone all too familiar to him.
(H/C) hair flicked to the side from the nonexistent wind, her hands were both gripping at the sand to her sides squeezing them as though they were stress balls.
Hesitantly stepping away from the platform he'd been on his shoes sunk into the soft ground before making it quickly towards where the grass and sand met.
His footsteps sounded much louder on the sand than they did on the grass and upon stepping closer he watched her hands stop fiddling with the sand.
Head now turned back towards where he stood her (E/C) hues traced over his form before settling along his face. Her lips curled up into a faint smile and without saying much she patted the sand beside her.
Ombre hues remained fixed to her form, trailing across the space of her forehead in case this was just his stand messing with him.
But it was not.
Moving closer and hesitantly taking a seat beside her, his eyes never left her face apart from to glance ahead towards where she was staring.
"It's about time you showed up." Humming that out she pulled her legs in resting her chin over the top of them.
Remaining quiet he chose to take this time to engrained her features into his mind. It had been awhile since he'd seen her, the replays of her were getting repetitive and they never felt the same as when she was there.
"Have you been waiting long?" He wasn't sure why that question in specific left his lips but he couldn't help but be curious, the ache in his heart wouldn't stop until there was an answer.
"Not too long. It only really feels like a few seconds here." Turning her head so that her cheek now rested against the point of her knee she spared the man a small smile. "But I'm glad you're here now."
Taking in a breath he reached out softly taking her hand into his own, the warmth from it that he remembered remained as did the softness of it.
"You never texted me back."
A soft sigh left her lips, her thumb had taken to rub gently circles into the top of his hand. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you worry."
The two seemed to fully ignored the events of what happened, talking about it in a lighthearted yet commemorative manner.
"Worry me is an understatement," Giving her hand a squeeze he released a nasally sigh. "What did you even try making?"
The question drew out a soft laugh from the girl, the corner of her eyes crinkled in response. "I was trying to make a keychain but I didn't know how to braid the threads."
Pressing his lips into a line a hum left him, in a quick manner he'd shifted closer engulfing the girl in a tight hug. His face buried itself into her hair and it seemed as though he was scared to let her go.
"Did you like it though?"
His grip became tighter, body nearly trembling at this point till a tear had trailed down his face onto her shoulder.
