Y/n's pov

I was at school and it was lunch. Everyone was at their own tables. The sound of talking filled the room.

"So y/n, still no color yet?" one of my friends asked eating her lunch.

"No. Not yet" I say sighing.

All of my friends were talking in their own conversation.

My mind started drifting to who my soulmate could be?

My life wasn't the best.

My parents were divorced and I stayed with my mother.

She worked three jobs to pay off the bills. She would usually come home drunk.

When my parents were married we were the perfect family.

"Why don't you come over to mine?" Millie asked.

Millie was one of my friends. She's a sweet girl.

She cared for everyone around her. She had an amazing family.

A family I wish I had.

Everyone agreed to go to her house after school.

Third-person pov

The bell rang and everyone left the cafeteria.  Her friends went to their own class and the halls began to clear out.

Y/n walked into her classroom and took a seat.

Class started and the teacher came in.

Everything went on as usual until there was a loud ringing noise.

Y/n's pov

"Sorry, Miss. Harbert. Can I take this?" I asked the teacher.

The teacher nodded and I walk outside.

I answered the phone.

"Hello?" I said putting the phone near my ear.

"Y/n? Can you stay at Millie's today?" the voice of my mother rang through my ears.

"O-okay.." I said then I heard she hung up.

I walked back into the classroom my shoulder slouched.

"I'm sorry Miss. Harbert. It's just my mother" I said explaining to her.

She gave me an understanding look and gestured me to sit.

She and I were close. She was like the mother figure that I was missing.

She knew about my mother and had sympathy for me because she also grew up with a drunken mother and no father figure.

Class went on as usual and soon school was over.

I walked through the halls to the school gate where my friends were standing.

"Hey everyone. Mills do you think I could sleepover again?" I played with my hands.

"Yeah sure. Did your mother call?" I nodded my head 'yes'.

"But my cousins are staying over so can you sleep in the spare room?" she asked as we start walking.

"Of course," I said with a smile as we walked to her house.

She lived quite close to the school so it wasn't long before we got there.

Everyone was chatting and having a great time.

We headed inside and made our way to Millie's room.

This wasn't the first time I had slept over here so I knew my way around the house.

Everyone took a seat in their own little spot and started scrolling through Instagram or chat with one another.

"I'll be right back. I need to go to the bathroom" I said standing up.

They mumbled an 'okay' or just nodded.

I opened the door to head out but I was met face to face with Mrs. Brown.

"Hello y/n! Are you staying over again tonight?" she asked with a bright smile putting down the laundry basket I didn't notice she was holding.

"I am" I returned the smile but it wasn't a real one.

I excused myself and headed to the bathroom.

After finishing my business I walked back and went on as usual.

A few hours had passed and there was a knock on the door.

"Dinners ready!" I heard a person from the other side yelled.

Everybody already left and now it was only me and Millie.

"That's probably Finn. Let's go" she said getting up and linked our arms.

She opened the door and a boy around my age came into our view.

As soon as he did colors came to my vision.

Shock spread through my face. my hand went up to my mouth.

Millie and her cousin Finn looked at me worried.

"Are you alright y/n?" she asked putting a hand on my shoulder.

"Colours"  That was all I could say.
