The rest of the date went in happy giggles and fleeting touches, both Midoriya and Todoroki far too flustered to do much. And when they returned to the dorms four hours after they'd left with red-stained cheeks and slick palms even Bakugo would be impressed with? The questions came flooding in.
"Please tell me you're dating now," Kaminari sighed over a can of a concerning looking energy drink.
"Yeah, we've been waiting for like, three months. You two are painfully obvious and oblivious. Even Zappy here didn't take that long." Sero laughed, nudging his unappreciative friend in the ribs.
The new couple had walked into the common room only for a new series of questions. It looked like Mina, Kaminari, Sero, and Kirishima sat on the couches playing Uno. Midoriya thought it was odd that Bakugo wasn't around, but shrugged it off as him being busy or grouchy.
Midoriya's previous embarrassment found a new passion to keep burning.
"N—no! Well, yes, we're dating—" Midoriya could barely make his words work in his head, much less out loud, not even bothering to continue what he was attempting to get at when Todoroki let out a happy hum.
"We're boyfriends. Now please leave Izuku alone, he may combust. You never know." Sarcasm dripped in Todoroki's tone, but it was also enough for the group to shrug off the new relationship and offering them to join the game. It was declined with the poor excuse of homework, both Todoroki and Midoriya rushing to their rooms.
Once the elevator room closed and jolted up, Todoroki finally broke the silence that washed over them. "Thank you for today. I think I've said that a million times already, but really. I enjoyed it."
Midoriya grinned, forgetting all about how he was supposed to be embarrassed. "Yeah, of course! I had a good time with you."
They exchanged nervous smiles and parted ways once they reached the second story, Midoriya getting off and giggling to himself when the doors closed. Behind the doors, Todoroki nearly collapsed, the events of the day rushing back to him all at once.
He really had a boyfriend.
He couldn't believe it. It felt so surreal. He'd actually managed to ask Midoriya out. Even if Midoriya had asked him on the date, Todoroki had been the one to pop the question.
He lightly shook his head, pushing his way through the doors and to his dorm. Once he was secured on his bed, door locked and one leg hanging off the bed from lying diagonally across the mattress. His mismatched eyes vaguely stared at the ceiling as he drifted into thought.
The perfect way to have a crisis. Alone, bound to have a certain bubbly girl by the name Uraraka banging on his door, and very, very gay.
The sigh that left his lips said it all.
He was happy, of course. He was dating the person he'd liked for months. Of course he'd be happy. But. . . There was also his dad.
Endeavor wasn't what he'd consider a violent homophobe, but he was far from supportive. Whenever the topic came up, he didn't make much commentary on it. After all, he had a reputation to remain as the number one hero, previously number two. But, he couldn't hide his distaste for it completely.
Todoroki wouldn't mind if Endeavor didn't agree if he were still supportive of Todoroki. He couldn't change his fathers mind and he didn't really want to, the same way his father couldn't change his. Except, the man would still try.
He wasn't planning on hiding it from anyone, but he definitely wasn't going to tell dear old daddy about his new boyfriend.
He groaned, rolling onto his stomach and vaguely feeling his other leg slip off the bed. This was hard. Why couldn't he have gotten better luck in the dad department? Could he make a return after that long? It would be great to get a replacement. He figured his dad had a malfunction that only showed when you got a boyfriend.
