Double dates were somehow more stressful than normal dates, Midoriya realized. He'd never been super huge on impressing people with his clothes, but now he found himself sitting in his closet on the verge of tears trying to pick between a red flannel or a black and white one.
He grabbed his phone, finally shooting Uraraka a text. SOS. Red flannel or black and white?
Ding. You're pathetic. What are you wearing with it? Rude, he thought, but just answered instead of wasting his time on complaints.
White sweater and light jeans
Usual shoes?
Yeah ofc
Red. Now they won't be so out of place. Now hurry up!! yk Todoroki is always early to everything and Shinso's gonna make Kaminari early too
Midoriya didn't get time to respond as another text came through. And cuff your jeans if they arent skinny. It looks good
Okay, tysm!!
He jumped up, quickly throwing the red flannel on and abandoning the black and white one on the floor. He propped his foot on the end of his bed frame and nearly rolled up the end of his jeans, switching legs to do the same thing over again. He snatched up the yellow and white daisy bracelet Uraraka had made for him, knowing Todoroki would be wearing an identical one. It was a thing between their group—Iida, Tsu, and Uraraka all had the same bracelet.
He checked the time—just past 12:45, still 15 minutes early—and was out the door in a flash. He didn't even bother with the elevator, since he was only on the second story, instead just skipping steps until he reached the bottom. He hardly gave his friends a rushed, "Hey!" having ran past Iida, Tsu, and Uraraka in the lounge where they played a card game.
He slowed himself just before the door, opening it and trying to be as casual as possible as he approached Todoroki, Shinso, and Kaminari. He failed, apparently, since Shinso gave him the most painfully blunt, questioning look. He was even more unfiltered than his boyfriend, who spat out just about everything he ever thought.
"Hey!" Midoriya grinned, taking his place on Todoroki's left side. It was colder now, so he often found himself seeking the warmth it radiated.
"Hey, Zu." Todoroki hesitated for a moment before finally saying what he was thinking. "That's a nice outfit, you look cute today."
Midoriya beamed up at him. "Oh, thanks! You do, too!"
It sounded somewhat like Midoriya was just being nice, but he wasn't lying. Todoroki did look really good that day. He'd thrown on a white turtleneck, light jeans covered in rips and small holes, and a cool-toned tan blazer. Midoriya briefly noticed he was wearing his daisy bracelet and a few rings. He'd spotted the thick band adorned with a simple mushroom engraving, something that must've been a favorite of Todoroki's.
Midoriya was one lucky guy.
"Alright, y'all ready to go? I want some coffee! And maybe something to eat, too." Kaminari laughed, completely ignoring the tired look he got from Shinso. It was pretty much plastered on his face at all times, so it wasn't anything Kaminari cared to mention.
Todoroki noticed Midoriya bob his head in agreement, speaking for them both. "Yeah, I think we're good."
"Let's go, then." Shinso laced his fingers with Kaminari's as Todoroki did to Midoriya, the two couples making their way out of the school and on the bus. It was a short trip, only ten minutes and they were at the small coffee shop tucked away in the city.
