[T H R E E : Tell me your secrets]

Four months later. (mid-october)

I hesitated as I slipped on my shoes, but Destiny was already glaring at me from the other side of the door. Destiny was my closest friend now, and picked up the pieces after Sarah left. I met her in freshman year, but I never struck up any conversations with her. I couldn't see her, but I knew she would be mad because I told her I would be out two minutes ago. A strand of hair tumbled onto my face as I walked clumsily to the door.

When I opened it, there Destiny stood, in a little pink dress and utter contempt for me blatantly displayed upon her delicate features. "Lets go, 'Luce." The clacking of her heels echoed against the marble tile, and her attire made me a bit self-conscious of my red converse and denim skirt.

When we got to the party, I fumbled around in my pockets and discovered an envelope. It was the letter Sarah gave to me I never had the courage to open it, although I glanced at it with longing many times. I suspect I had placed it in there to distract myself from opening it.

Thinking about Sarah made me feel reminiscent of the time I had spent with her. Last month, my mom told me that Sarah didn't actually go to Hawaii or go to spend the summer with her grandparents. They never specified, but I knew Sarah had problems, things even she wouldn't tell me.

I left Destiny in the throng of bodies and conversations that illuminated the house. The party was for one of her friends, one I never talked to but was nice enough to let me tag along.

Once I got outside, I bit my lip out of habit and opened the card. In her loopy writing, it read:

I'm sorry I left. I know you probably hate me but the best things always come to an end. You were my best thing. I cant tell you where I am now, because I don't really know. What I do know is that you deserve all the best things, 'Luce.

Here are some things I recommend for you:

1. Make friends. I know it took a lot for you to talk to me that first day, and I'm thankful, but you need new friends who will bring you up because I cant anymore.

2. Live. Study more, because you deserve all the best.

3. Go out of your comfort zone and talk to him. (I may not know him– hell, you probably don't even know him yet. But if you want to talk to him, whenever you take this advice, do it. Do it for me. And if not for me, do it for yourself).

XOXO, Sarah.

I hadn't realized how much I missed Sarah. When we were friends, I would only think about her well being and forgot about mine. It had a draining effect on me, and I never realized how much she really looked out for me. I blinked back fat tears and a small smile made its way onto my face, I knew I wouldn't accomplish these things now, but in time. I promised myself I would, and walked back to the party.

Pushing myself into the crowd, I folded the envelope and placed it back in my pocket, and continued to look for Destiny. When I saw her, she smiled. "I was wondering where you were, you loser!" Destiny smiled, and I rested my arm on her shoulder, engulfing myself in conversation with her friends.
