The Pleasure Is Mine

Chapter 9

"Are you nervous?"

"Is it obvious?"

Jennie lets out a giggle. She wraps her arms around the rather fidgety girl in front of her.

"It is." Jennie whispers. "And it's really cute."

"I'm worried I'm going to make a mistake or disappoint your parents." Jisoo responds, worry quite evident in her tone. "Are you sure you want to introduce me to them, Jennie? We can wait until you know you are sure about....me—"

Hearing Jisoo sound so apprehensive and scared draws a frown on Jennie's face as she pulls away and brings her hands up to Jisoo's face.

"Jisoo do I have to make love to you in bed and say 'I love you' to you a million times for you to understand that I am sure about you and about us?"

The soft confession brings a sheepish pout onto the older girl's face who looks down at the ground, shy to look straight into Jennie's eyes.

"Do you think the girls will take it well?" Jisoo then asks.

Jennie shows her gummy smile as she gives Jisoo's cheeks a quick squeeze before sneaking in a quick peck.

"As accepting as Joy, if not more." Jennie answers with a chuckle. "Now let's get dressed. You and I are going to show up fashionably late."

"But isn't this technically your New Years gathering. Shouldn't we get there early?"

Jennie shakes her head. "Technically it's my parent's. And, also, the main characters don't show up on time."

A gathering. When Jennie had said she wanted to take Jisoo to a New Years gathering and introduce her to her parents Jisoo was already anxious but this? Jisoo can feel her nerves acting up already. She can feel Jennie's firm grasp on her hand as she leads her into the venue but Jisoo can already her insides churning because this is not a gathering, this is a party and a huge one too!

Jisoo's worry multiplies when she notices familiar faces as they enter the venue. From important editors to designers to celebrities and company holders. This is not a gathering! Jisoo panics as she watches Jennie nod and greet at people as she leads the older girl to oh my god her parents! This early into the night! Jisoo's spent the past couple days practicing for this moment but now thrown into this scene, she's buzzed and can't think straight.

"Jennie!"

An older lady who so gracefully resembles Jennie in all aspects wraps an arm around Jennie before planting a soft kiss on her cheek.

"Sweetie, I thought you were going to come with Joy," she adds in her sing-song voice.

"I ditched Joy to come with my date." Jennie responds with a smile as she raises her and Jisoo's interlocked fingers. Jisoo blushes as two pairs of eyes land on her.

"Jisoo! I see my daughter's dragged you here as her date." Chairman Kim greets Jisoo with a joke.

Having already met with him, Jisoo shines a wide smile. The nerves only act up again when it's Jennie's mother that addresses Jisoo.

"Such a beautiful woman you are, Jisoo! I've heard only good things about you. Looking forward to the collaborative Fashion Week soon!"

"On the topic of the Fashion Week," Jennie's father chimes in. "Very impressed with the bold outlook for the theme and also for Miss Hong Soojoo."

And in that moment, Jisoo freezes up and Jennie can feel Jisoo's hands getting sweaty. Jennie opens her mouth to steer the conversation and change the topic but Jisoo acts faster.
