 Chapter Four

Have you tried seeing a ghost in your entire life? Well, it’s kind of creepy but what’s creepy was seeing that guy from yesterday. God knows why all my hair stood up so fast and I could not breathe. Why was he even here? What kind of question is that? Of course, he’s Andrew’s best friend and they hang out in here like—a lot!

“Cupid, nice seeing you, dear, would you care for some ice tea?” Ms. Roberts put a hand on his shoulder.

“Thank you, Ms. R but Andrew and I just had our snacks.” He says with a smile. It was so weird. The moment he smiled at her I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. Why does he have those super straight and white teeth? Why do his eyes smile with his mouth? And why does he have this effect on me?

“Great!” Janica claps her hands. “More hot dogs for me then? Right, best?”

I nodded blankly at her. I turned to look at Cupid and he was looking at me. Oh dear Lord.

“Psyche,” Janica elbowed me and that was when I was back to my senses.

I turned to her and I raised my eyebrows as if I just woke up.

“Kai,” Andrew stood beside me. “Want to go together?”

“Huh?”

He rolled his eyes at me. “The one I proposed to you earlier?”

Janica coughs in the background. “You proposed to her?” she turns to me and glared but I ignored her.

“I’m so sorry, I forgot. But sure,” I shrugged. “It would be great.”

“Okay.” He grins at me. “It’s a date.”

Janica coughs in the background again. I opened my mouth to defend myself when Ms. Roberts interrupted.

“Okay, kids I’m gonna leave you for a while. I will just have to clear some things up stairs and then you can go straight to business.” Ms. Roberts said and she went back inside before I could get myself some excuse of not attending this session for today.

“Nice manicure.” Cupid said and I hid my newly painted pedicure hands.

“Thanks. I don’t want to think that you want one yourself.” I said sarcastically.

He laughs. I stifle a groan. I nodded understandingly instead and I looked back at Andrew and completely ignored him.

“So, I heard your parents are moving back here.” Janica said to him.

He smiled at her and I know it gave her the thrills. I bet she’s going to squeal at me later if she’d get the chance.

“Yes.”

“What a coincident that you’re moving beside my house.” I shot him a glare when I don’t know why I should.

He shrugged and then he turned to me as if I was the one he was talking to. “My parents decided to move back here. My grandmother was diagnosed with brain tumor.”

“I’m so sorry.” Janica said as she empathized with him. I on the other hand was boiling hot like a kettle. I don’t want this guy around. Not in my tutor class and definitely not in my own place and backyard. I couldn’t concentrate if he would take glances at me all the time. Not to mention he might stalk my backyard too!

“It’s fine. Anyway I had a lot of fun here. There are many good people.” He said and he smiled at me. “So many beautiful things to see.”

Janica cleared her throat as she smelled that little weird something that I felt too.

“Cupid is really a nice name. Why were you given that name?” Janica continued her inquisition.
