"Adeline I'm going to need you to go on a mission for me"
"What's the mission?"
"I need you to recruit a Spider-ling"
"Seriously dad. You're Iron Man and you need me to recruit someone for you? And what the hell is a spider-ling?"
"I do, because he's a 15 year old so you'll need to go undercover at a high school." he ignored my last question.
"Your kidding right? I'm not going to a high school" I was angry. My dad never wanted the world to know I existed so I had to be homeschooled my whole life and now at 15 I had the chance to go to school and I didn't want to go. "You know what. Fine. I'll go. What school is it anyways?"
"Midtown Tech. And the kid is Peter Parker, you'll need to get close to him and find out as much information as possible. Also I put you in almost all his classes so it wouldn't be suspicious. But for the love of god under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will you date this boy you got that?"
"Yes dad god I know" I was annoyed that he thought I would date this boy that I don't even know. It's not like I'd be there for long anyway, all I have to do is get in, find the information and get the hell out of there.
The next day I unwillingly woke up at 7AM and quickly got dressed.
"Shit!"
How am I already late? I grabbed some coffee that my dad made for himself and ran out of the compound. I got there just in time to skip math. I've always been good at math so there's no point in going anyway. The rest of the day was a breeze, most of the stuff the teachers taught, I already knew.
I got out of school 30 minutes early because I skipped study hall. I sat outside on one of the benches at my new overly fancy high school. I put in my headphones and played Led Zeppelin. I stared at the ground stewing in anger towards my dad. I didn't see a point in me being here.
That's when a pair of warn down black sneakers stopped in front of me interrupting my train of thoughts. I looked up and saw a cute brown haired boy smiling down at me. I took out my earbuds.
"Oh uh hi?"
"Do you mind if I sit?" The brown haired boy asked kindly.
"Not at all" I smiled at him. I had to sell this. But I doubt it'd be hard, he seems like a nice guy whom I wouldn't mind hanging out with. But I didn't even know if this was Peter yet.
"I'm Peter Parker"
I guess now I know.
"I'm Lilly Waters" I don't know why I didn't just use my real first name. It's not like he would know. But then again it might be better to use a full fake name.
"So what are you listening to?"
"Led Zeppelin"
"I love Led Zeppelin!"
Our eyes met and we just sat there smiling at each other for a moment before we were interrupted by a honking horn. Peter jerked his head to the side and jumped up from the bench. He then ran over to the car and waved to me before hopping in. I waved back.
Happy pulled up in a very noticeable rusty old falling-apart Toyota. I jumped in quickly so that no one would see me.
This is so embarrassing.
"Happy I know you can't pull up in a limo or anything like that but what the fuck is this?"
"First of all watch your language, you're a child. Second. Tony told me to pick you up in this poor person car. He said no one would notice!"
"Happy this isn't a poor person school!" I rubbed my forehead
"It wasn't my idea Adeline!"
"Just drive Happy" I slid my back down the leather seat. It's too late anyway everyone's already seen me in this so-called car.
I got home soon after the awkward interaction with Peter. I threw my bag down at the front door and walked into the kitchen. I would've called out to my dad but I could feel the rhythmic buzzing of his music in the floor so I knew he was hard at work on one of his suits in his workshop.
I grabbed a apple from the fruit bowl and walked into my room. I flipped off my lights that I accidentally left on this morning. I walked over to my bookshelves and looked through my many, many books. I decided to read The Hunger Games. I sat on my bed and started reading. I managed to read a few chapters before my dad called me downstairs. I took a bite out of my apple and set it down on my nightstand. I walked down the stairs and met my dad in the kitchen.
"Hey dad! What's up?" I slid my hands in the back pockets of my jeans. I wasn't even going to bring up the car situation, I know that if I yell at him about it he'll pull me out of school.
Tony Stark is a very petty man.
"How was school?"
"Fine"
"Fine?"
"Well yeah, you know I mean, I already knew everything they taught us in each class so that was easy."
"Your welcome."
"What do you mean your welcome? You weren't even my teacher, Vision was."
"Yes, well I made him."
"No you didn't. Helen Cho made Vision when she was under Ultron's mind control."
"Okay, BUT I made Ultron who turned on me and made Dr. Cho make Vision so ha!"
"Yes you created a 7 foot tall evil robot who levitated and destroyed Sokovia, killing 177 civilians and creating $474 billion dollars in damage. But by all means, take all the credit for that"
"Whatever. Did you meet the spider-thing today?"
"Yeah. We didn't have time to talk during class because he was sitting at the front"
"So?"
"All the front seats were taken, plus, its a seat in the front. No thanks. But we did meet after school, I was sitting on a bench waiting for Happy to pick me up and he sat beside me. We only exchanged a few words before someone came to pick him up."
"Okay. Thanks, that's all I needed"
"K"
