Kilian

If I thought Venus surprised the hell out of me by that proposal today, I definitely underestimated how much she planned ahead. I should've expected it, and yet I still smirk at the unforeseen sight of my best friend in front of the courthouse.

"Kill!" Hayden grins as he sees us stepping out of the Uber.

"Bro!" I can't help but laugh when he throws his arms around me. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Ah, you didn't think I'd miss the biggest miracle the world has seen, right?" His grin is contagious, and I can't help but hug him once more as he chuckles into my ear. "Besides. You think these two would ever get married without each other?" He nods at Mila and Jasmine behind us, who now have fallen into each other's arms too.

"No, I guess not."

"Kilian!" Mila's gaze meets mine, and I have to stifle a laugh at the way the tiny brunette waddles over to me, her round belly already displaying the baby growing inside her. "Guess you finally did it, huh?"

"I did it?" I raise an eyebrow at Mila before I bend over to give her a hug. "The woman let me wait a whole year before she could admit I was right in the first place!"

I can hear Venus' protests in the background, but I don't pay much attention to them until she's right back in my arms again. "That's not fair," she huffs, but I can only give her a swift but deep kiss in response.

"Never said it was." As I pull back from the woman in my arms, I can't help but look at her for a moment, just to appreciate the beauty in front of me.

Who knew I'd ever end up here in front of a courthouse, waiting to get married to a woman who is so out of my league in every aspect of who she is. There's nothing about her that should be appealing to me, and yet she stole my breath from day one, even if it was by simply infuriating the shit out of me.

"Now, how does this work?" Hayden's voice brings me back to reality. "Do you have a dress waiting somewhere or..."

"A dress?" My girl seems utterly unimpressed by that suggestion, and I can't help but laugh when she waves her hand over her body, presenting the white jumpsuit that so perfectly hugs her curves. "This is traditional enough for me. What about you?" She glances over at me, and even if I had any reservations about her outfit—which, for the record, I don't—, I'd never dare to voice them; The raw joy in her ocean blue eyes makes it impossible to deny any request that could ever leave her lips.

"I think you're the hottest girl in the room no matter what you're wearing, Venus. That's all I need."

Jasmine beams at me, and I think I even notice a hint of a blush on my fiancée's cheeks as she presses a chaste kiss on my lips. "Perfect. I mean, I did choose both of our outfits today, so..."

"...so you got it all figured out." I can't help the grin on my lips.

It's not that I'm surprised. I knew Jasmine wouldn't want a big wedding, and I honestly didn't care enough to object on that matter. I would've married her right in that studio if I could've, so the courthouse seems like a good enough option for me. And knowing she planned all of this without my knowing just makes it all so much more special, too.

"Wait a minute." That thought sparks a memory within me. "Did you plan this when I agreed to the photoshoot all those months ago?"

My girl seems flustered for a hot second, and she almost stumbles over her own words as she explains, "Well... Kinda. I don't know. I just didn't know why we should wait any longer. But I still wanted it to be... us, you know? And this was the best way I could think of. Even if it took a few more months..."
