Chapter 21

Annie's Point of View

I woke up to my sister filming me with our old film camera. I pushed the camera away as I yawned and slowly sat up.

"Good morning siiis! Happy Birthdaaaay!" She yelled as she gave me a big hug.

"Thank you, Einna." I said as I stood up and went to the bathroom. Einna was still following me wherever I went with that film camera.

"Hey guys so my sister is already awake. She's brushing her teeth. Now she's doing skin care. Hmm yes she can't forget her hair." She said, commenting on every single thing I do.

As I went down, Mom and Dad popped some party poppers and showed me a huge meal for a breakfast.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR DEAR ANNIE!" They shouted in unison as the confetti flowed down. I chuckled as I sat down the chair and looked at all the appetizing food they cooked for me.

"How was your sleep?" My mom asked and I gave her an 'ok' sign with my finger for there was food on my mouth.

"She told me Armin's favorite food, drink, and thing to do was--" I shut her up by covering her mouth by feeding her bread and glaring at her.

"Well sweetie aren't you obsessed with Armin? Hmm?" My mom laughed at Einna.

"His stories are really great! I'm actually quite surprised that someone with bad taste managed to pull someone like Armin." I punched her playfully as she just laughed at me.

"Now now stop playing you two. Let's eat. And Einna, be nice to your sister even just for today. It's her birthday right?" Einna nodded and winked as she put up an 'ok' sign with her fingers.

When we were done eating, I went walking by my childhood friend's house to greet him. I knocked on his door and the door immediately opened, showing Niccolo in an apron implying that he was just cooking.

"A-Annie!" He suddenly gave me a tight hug before letting me in his home. As I went in, I saw two kids playing with each other. One was blonde and the other was a brunette.

"Your nephews?" I asked.

"Hmm no. They are my daughters." He answered which left my mouth wide open. It has been a while since we've talked to each other so I wasn't aware that he already has kids. Two of them in fact.

"So...Who's the mother?" I asked.

"Sasha Braus. She's a soldier and she's currently out in training right now. So here I am as a househusband taking care of our two angels." He said as he stared at his two daughters playing.

"So uhh Happy Birthday! You've grown so much since the last time I saw you. Well I do see you all of the time in my social media accounts but you know it hits different when I see you in person."

"Thank you, Niccolo. It's really been a while."

"How's your boyfriend? I would love to meet him one day." He said as he began placing the dried dishes on their respective places as he continued to talk to me.

"Oh sadly, he's not here with me. He's busy with his book signing events." Niccolo nodded as he continued to do his chores. We spent the whole morning talking to each other and reminiscing the past. He talked about Sasha and I talked about Armin as well. It's funny how we told each other before that we would marry each other but here we are, falling deeply and madly in love with the new people who just came into our lives.

"Good bye then it was nice meeting you again." I said as I waved him a goodbye before walking back home.

As I went home, no one was there. I thought maybe they went out to buy groceries so I just stayed in my room to take a nap. But by the time I woke up, it was already night time.
