Armin's Point of View

It has been a year since that happened. I've never been the same after that.

I stared at her peaceful face as she laid in the white sheets of the hospital bed.

She has already been in a coma for one year.

It's because of me.

I learned about what happened. How it shows on the cctv footages what Christa did to her.

If only I came earlier...

It's all my fault.

Christa was arrested and was sentenced her whole life in prison but that couldn't stop me from despising her.

It was all my fault.

Tears started falling down my cheeks as I held her hand and kissed it while I closed my eyes.

Annie.

"W-Where...Am...I?"

My heart suddenly started beating rapidly. I looked up to her slowly opening her eyes.

I was hyperventilating as I saw how she spoke to me. I quickly pressed the button on her bed to call the nurses before holding her hand tightly.

"A-Annie...Annie..." I repeatedly called her name as she looked at me weakly.

The nurses came in and asked about her condition. I don't know what to feel right now. But I'm glad that she's alive. I'm glad that she survived.

"She'll need more rest, sir. Please watch over her." The doctor told me and left us alone in the room.

I held her hand once again as I looked at her eyes. It's still the same as before. It's still shining beautifully.

"W-Who are y-you?"

As she asked that question, I felt my whole world crumble. I stared at her with wide eyes as she looked at me like I was a stranger.

"A-Annie...Stop joking, love." I whispered but she just furrowed her eyebrows slightly and still remained staring at me blankly.

"I-I don't know you...Who are you?" She asked again and I could feel my heart break into pieces, watching the woman I love and want to spend my whole life with, forget about me.

I heard the door open and saw Bertholdt coming in with food. He was panting and out of breath and quickly came towards us. When Bertholdt saw me crying, he cried as well and sat down at the other edge of Annie's bed.

"B-Bertholdt?"

My mouth was wide open as she spoke Bertholdt's name. She still remembers him so why...

Why can't she remember me?

My heart ached as she gave Bertholdt a tight embrace. I couldn't take it anymore.

At this point, I'm just glad that she's alive. I'm glad that she survived. That's all I'm thinking of right now to divert myself from the painful reality that she already forgot about me.

"B-Bertholdt...W-Who is he?" She asked. Bertholdt looked at me with wide eyes before looking back at Annie.

"A-Annie...He's your boyf--" I stopped him for what he's about to say and pulled Bertholdt out of the room, going to the Hospital's rooftop so we could have our own privacy.

"S-She can't remember you?" Bertholdt asked, shock filled in his face. I nodded slowly and he looked away as he shook his hair with both of his hands.
