Strong | Hange x Reader

𝙲𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝙽𝚒𝚗𝚎: 𝚂𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚜

It's been a few days since Eren was giving to the scouts and it's now graduation day. In many rows and columns, cadets line up and await the time to make their final decision. Which regiment will we give ourselves to?

The dimly lit field cools as the sun goes down and moon comes out.

A man with eyebrows thicker than Armin's books and hair slicked back so much that any normal person would think his thoughts are slicked back with it. Akane didn't lie when she said he has bushy brows. The torch light reflects off of his blue eyes as he begins his speech.

"Hello, I am Commander Erwin Smith at the core of the investigation, also known as the Commander of the Scout Regiment. Today you will choose your regiment. Let's start the chase here. The Scouts need you. We have all the people we can get. Yes, with the recent Titan attack, you can see for yourself the limits of your abilities as well as the limits of your abilities, but the aftermath of this battle gave mankind a new chance of victory. I refer to Eren Yeager. After selflessly endangering lives and limbs, he undoubtedly proved unwavering loyalty to our cause. Eren didn't just help deter the invasion of Titans, but offered us a means to learn the truth of their origin."

Gasps travel around the field as everyone takes in what was just said. Commander Erwin continues with his speech.

After a while, the world starts to spin. My stance weakens as I find the strength to keep standing up and not pass out in front of all these people.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Ymir shoot me a side eye before grabbing the arm to help me stand.

"Thanks." I whisper to her as I use her grip to snap back into reality.

"You good? You looked like you ate like Sasha and then spun around a few times."

I reply with a simple nod before tuning back into the commander's speech only to find him wrapping up. The warmth of Ymir's hand leaves as she gets serious once again. The commander tells everyone to leave the area if they wish to join other regiments and the many footsteps of cadets fill my ears. Their bodies speed-walk away, giving away their choice.

So many walk away from the opportunity to fight for their freedom. Cowards. All of them. Who rather live like pigs inside these cramped walls than fight for a chance to change this cursed lifestyle? I scoff the sight of these losers backing down.

Suddenly the footsteps fade away and all thats left are a handful of cadets still standing strong. I look around to see who stayed. Connie, Jean, Sasha, Mikasa, Armin, Ymir, Historia, Bertholdt, Reiner.. they all stayed. The short ice princess was no where in sight so I assumed she left to join the MPs like she said she would. 

"If you were ordered to die, could you do it?" Erwin says as I snap my head forward again.

"We don't want to die sir!" someone said.

"Of course you don't want to. For those of you who have stayed, allow me to welcome you to the scout regiment. This is a true salute soldiers, together we give our hearts!" Erwin yells as he swiftly throws his right arm over his heart in a heartfelt salute before us cadets follow suit.

"SIR!"

"Those of you standing here have worked through your fear, you've proven yourself courageous, each one of you has my respect." Commander Eyebrows says as we all head to our new H.Q.

The next day approaches and our first full day at the scout headquarters begins. I make my way to the stables as ordered by the higher ups so that us new recruits can receive horses. On the way, Eren runs up to us and is taken into a hug by Mikasa. She proceeds to shower him with questions before promising to hurt the garden gnome for hurting Eren. A quick chat goes by quickly as we continue on our journey to the stables.
