"I didn't know- wow." George said, kicking snow with his feet. He watched Sadie amble around for a seconds before Sapnap spoke.
"I heard him mention low blood pressure before, but I didn't realize he could just drop out of nowhere." He said, picking up a stick and brushing the powdered snow off of it.
"Well, it wasn't out of nowhere- I think it's just because of that nose bleed." George grinned as Sadie finally used the bathroom. "Yeah! Good girl, Sadie!"
"Good job!" Sapnap ran over, crouching and petting the puppy, who had become ecstatic at the praise. She was leaping around his hands and trying to tackle them.
"At least that's going well." George laughed as Sapnap picked the dog up.
"Yeah, I've never seen a dog potty train so easy. Are you a good girl, Sadie? Huh? Are you, Sadie?" At each mention of her name the puppy gave another excited shudder in his arms.
"Me either."
"Damn, dude, you're so lucky. She's so freaking precious." Sapnap bent down and set the puppy back onto the snow. She bolted towards the door, where Bad and Rat had just wandered out.
Rat moved behind Bad's legs for a second, before seeming to realize there was no fork and taking off to meet the puppy in the middle. They leapt around and played as George and Sapnap made their way over to Bad.
"So much energy," Bad said, raising his eyebrows at Sadie. "How do you deal with it? I can normally calm Rat down, but jeez- that dog is on drugs or something."
"She's calm when I want her to be, but the second anything exciting happens she seems to grow extra feet." George sighed. "I've never seen a dog so small run so fast.""Just wait until she's older," Sapnap said, watching the two dogs jump and roll through a small pile of snow. Rat was barely visible.
"She's gonna be a cute one." Bad said. "I mean, her eyes, for god's sake- they're so adorable."
"So is Rat, but she stayed tiny. I didn't ask for a dog so I didn't make plans to have a big animal in my house." George muttered.
"Do you have a yard?" Sapnap looked at him.
"No. I'm in a flat for right now- I didn't see any need for a yard when I got the place."
"You're gonna need one. She can't be cooped up all the time." Bad said, bending down and patting his legs. Both dogs shot over in blurs of tumbling fur and pink tongues.
"I know- but I would have to find a new place and move all of my stuff. It seems like a lot." George grumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
"It's alright, George, it doesn't have to happen immediately. And it's not exactly a must if you plan on taking her on walks several times a day, but it's the easiest and probably best for her." Bad scooped up Sadie and Rat, cradling both to his chest. "Rat's small, but when my old roommate gave her to me, I still found a place with a big backyard and no stairs or anything so she couldn't hurt herself on them. I even baby proofed any of the cabinets with cleaning supplies and stuff in them."
George scowled- he hadn't thought of that. There was a sliding cabinet under his sink full of bleach and dishwasher pods that Sadie could easily get to.
"Yeah. I know. I'm definitely considering moving for her." George told his friends. Both Sapnap and Bad looked sympathetic. Bad held Sadie out to him, and George smiled, gently taking her. She settled right into his arms and closed her eyes against his chest. He chuckled.
"Look at her," Sapnap said, gently petting her head with a single thumb.
"Tuckered yourself out, did you?" George looked down at her. She seemed so perfect, so innocent and fragile. It was perhaps one of the most beautiful things he thought he had ever seen, the face of this sleeping puppy. Having her only for a few weeks yet being so desperately attached was a feeling he hadn't replicated in a long time.
