Voltron stood still as the paladins gazed on the crate that crashed to the surface of the Balmera.
"Please tell me there isn't a giant monster in there? Please tell me its empty . . . or full of space candy, one of those two." Hunk ranted.
"I don't think its a piñata, Hunk." Phoebe replied.
"If it's the same monster that attacked us on Arus, we already know how to beat it." Keith said with confidence.
Keith inserted his bayard, summoning Voltron's sword and shield.
"Stand your ground!" Shiro instructed.
The crate began to open, and as it did it revealed the monster. Despite what Keith thought, this monster definitely wasn't the same one. As the walls of the crate fell, the monster's chest began to glow, and a green beam shot out of it and hit Voltron's shield. The shield protected the paladins from the beam, but it shoved Voltron back.
"That is not space candy!" Hunk shouted.
"And its not a piñata either." Phoebe added. "We need to keep it from firing the Balmera's surface!"
Both Voltron and the monster flew up, but the monster sent out another blast. This time, the paladins could feel the impact, all of them groaning as they held on. Voltron tried to strike with the sword, but the monster shot a beam from its eye, hitting Voltron in the torso.
"Aah!" Phoebe screamed as she felt the blast.
Voltron continued to evade the beams, activating its shield and holding its ground as Shiro said.
"We can't hold out!" Lance exclaimed.
"My lion is weakening. That last beam hit me directly." Phoebe informed her teammates.
"If the shield sustains structural damage, we are done for." Pidge explained.
"Pidge is right!" Keith agreed.
"Oh, Pidge is right? I'm the one who said we can't hold out." Lance argued.
"Lance, watch your footing!" Phoebe yelled as the leg of Voltron began to slip. Voltron fell backwards, causing the shield to split in two.
"Okay, team Voltron, disband! Everyone, evasive maneuvers." Voltron broke up into six lions, all of them flying around the monster. "It can't hit us all at once."
All of a sudden, the monster lifted its arms and fired several beams, heading in different directions.
"You were saying!?" Phoebe snapped as she tried to keep the purple lion out of the line of fire.
As the lions scattered across the sky, the castle of lions emerged from the atmosphere and shot a blast at the monster. However, the monster quickly fired back, weakening the already damaged particle barrier.
"Keith, try to draw it's fire. I'm gonna come in from above." Shiro instructed the red paladin.
"Roger!"
Keith flew the red lion closer and fired a melting shot at the monster, but didn't cause any damage. Shiro flew in from above, but was quickly spotted and shot at.
"Shiro!" Phoebe flew in and knocked the black lion out of the way, her and her lion taking the hit.
"Phoebe! Are you okay?" Keith asked the purple paladin.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Thank you Phoebe."
"We have to find it's blind spot!" Keith yelled.
