Chapter 17: Shiro's Savior

"I'm not finding any coordinates in here. Are you sure this wasn't just a dream?" Pidge asked the balck paladin.

After Shiro woke up, he told everyone about the dream he had in the cryopod. He went on about a Galra helping him to escape from the druid chair, telling him that he needed to retrieve the blue lion before Zarkon could. He also mentioned coordinates, which is why they were all now gathered around Pidge and her laptop that's plugged into Shiro's arm.

"I'm positive, someone helped me to escape."

"And he was Galra?" Allura asked with an angry tone.

"Yes."

"You know you cannot trust them."

"Your father must have trusted them once. Zarkon was the original black paladin, wasnt he?" Shiro asked the princess.

"That was a long time ago."

"Wait, what?" Lance said in confusion.

"That explains how he was able to take the black lion so easily." Phoebe said.

"And do all that cool stuff with the black bayard. Ya know, Shiro's bayard!" Keith added.

"Why didnt you just tell us the truth about Zarkon?" Shiro asked her.

"I wanted to protect you from the dark history of the paladins, so that you'd have a chance to bond with your lions on your own," she explained. "You are the black paladin now, not Zarkon."

"Yeah, well the black lion may have a different take on the matter."

Phoebe put her hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort her friend.

"Wait a second, I think I see it now. Some repeating numbers in all this Galra code. Let me extract it."

Pidge loaded the data onto a screen so everyone could see. The data she had found revealed a map of a system. "They are coordinates!"

"Looks like we're heading to the Thaldicon system." Shiro said.

"Shiro, are you sure you can trust this?" Keith asked him.

"I kinda have to wonder that myself. I mean, look at what the Galra did to us." Phoebe added.

"Its worth the risk. Someone helped me escape. If we can find some allies in our fight against Zarkon, especially ones from his own side, we might just find a way to take them down."

"We can check the location, but I do not like this," Alluranspoke up. "The Galra are not to be trusted."

Everyone headed back to the bridge so that Allura could create a wormhole to the Thaldicon system. Once the castle made it to the other side of the wormhole, they entered into what looked like a crystal field.

"Welp, this is is. No signs of any activity at all, living or otherwise." Coran informed them.

"Can we get in to get a closer look?" Shiro asked him.

"I wouldn't want to bring the castle any closer. Those Zenthorian chunks contain highly unstable nitrate salts. Even bumping into one of those can blast us straight to Monzbai."

"Are you sure this is right?"

"These are the coordinates number 6 gave me."

"Hey, my decription is solid!" Pidge said defensively.

"There must be something we are missing."

"We should get out of here," Allura suggested. "We checked it out, but now it's time to move on."
