Chapter 6: Lunch Table

I sat down at the table for a while just looking over at other people talking with each other. I overheard many conversations talk about me, but I didn't really mind since it wasn't anything that bad. I remembered I put a book in my backpack. I carried around a backpack since I got here since I didn't have an actual place to stay. I took out my book, which was called 'Always and Forever and started to read it. 

I felt someone put a hand on my shoulder, which I wasn't expecting so I jumped a little. I turn my head to see it's Newt. He then says "can I sit here, with you?" You just simply nod your head up and down then he sits next to you. He had two trays of food in his hand and he pushed one over to you saying "eat this, you need it for more energy." I didn't negotiate with him because I was actually hungry. I then put my book away back in my bag.

I wanted to eat because my stomach was feeling empty but the food smelled like a pig's breathe. "Ew! Newt why does it smell like that?" I look at him worried but he just shrugs and continues to eat.

He looks back up at me and says "it taste fine," I then laugh. He says "love, what's so funny?" I can see a piece of sliced meat on his chin and laugh again. He stares at you confused but I kept laughing. After a while, I had my fun so I said "you have something right here," I point to my chin indicating that's where it is. He takes the food off his chin and looks at it saying "oh."

He threw the piece of chicken at me but I just threw it at the grass. Me and him both laughed and continue eating.

Eventually, more people starting coming over to our table. There was now a small and chubby boy named Chuck, a British boy named Newt and an Asian boy named Minho sitting at our table. We all laughed and chatted till lunch was over and we were done eating.

Minho, the Asian boy, became my best friend and Newt was my friend as well. Chuck was like a little brother to me and Alby was like a protective older brother. I was able to say I made some pretty good friends here at the glade.

Throughout lunchtime, I couldn't stop thinking about what I thought of Gally at the bonfire. Did I really think he was hot? I mean I guess people could say that but- they just say it to be nice. I mean he is a good fighter from what I've seen of him but he would b better with more technique. Yeah, I do think he is strong enough to be a builder since they pick up heavy wood and metal probably. 

I then realized Newt was talking to me and I snapped out of my thoughts. He looks at me like he was waiting for an answer but I just look at him confused. He then says "you weren't listening where you?" I then say "No. No I was. Yeah, I was just. Ummm." There was silence for a few moments then I say "yeah I wasn't, sorry haha." He then smiles and says "it's alright love." I can Newt's face and I can tell he knows somewhat of what I was thinking "so y/n,  What were you thinking about?" He nudges my side two times. I just stare at him blankly and say "oh um, that's not important." 

He looks at me and follows my eyes to see me gazing over my shoulder at Gally. Newt gasp loudly and everyone at our table looks at him. Newt then says "omg!" I look back at him and realize he caught me staring. He then keeps talking and says "it was Gally wasn't it!?!" He says this with a teasing voice. I then say "what! No. No. No, it was not." I could feel slight redness on my ears and my cheeks. Minho then interrupts and says "Yeah it was, y/n you're a tomato!" "huh," I say with nervousness knowing they found out. 

Newt then says "what I said before when you were thinking about Gally was: since you're finished eating do you want me to take you to your next job?" I then nodded my head and followed him.
