Shaimas POV:
Last night trent and I called my mum and Raphael who I consider my father more than my own. He's been in my life for so long and made my mum so happy that I'm glad to call him my dad.

"Are you okay Shay?" Trent looks over to me and I give him a soft smile

"Ya I'm okay I promise, it's just what are we gonna do when he's back? If he manipulates her again I just" I sigh

Trent grabs my hand and squeezes it right "he will not even get close, your mom is strong. She has Raph. Everything will be okay I promise."

"Don't promise me something that you can't keep" I sigh "but I'll try to think positive, that's all I could do at this point"

Masons POV:

"Dad if he comes back he's gonna hurt them again, why can't you stop it?" I exclaimed as I followed him into his study

"I've tried Mason, but you know Jonathan. It's very hard to convince him of anything. I've told you Sean and him are pissed. I will always be happy for Shaima no matter who she chooses to be with I'm just happy that you guys are friends but they're the ones trying to convince me of other things." He sighs "just make sure that Shaima knows that he's in the city, he got back this morning. I'm surprised that he hasn't yet to gone to see her."

"Dad, is he going to hurt her like how he did before?" I ask him

"I don't know Mason, I really don't know"

I need to call Shaima. I have to keep her safe.

Shaimas POV:

Trent and I were shopping for Diannes birthday present. Honestly I'm only here cause Trent has no idea what to get her and he needed a girls perspective. But me being a good daughter that Dianne always considered me to be, I had already bought her gift.

We had been looking at purses and found a perfect one for her. As Trent was paying inside I went outside to look at the necklace display the next store over. Soon I feel a pair of arms wrap around my waist and I look up to see Trent. "Which one?" He asks

"Nope you aren't buying me anything" I laugh and shake my head "you've bought me enough"

"Why can't you let me spoil you" he laughs and kisses my cheek

"Cause I hate being the centre of attention. Or when people buy we stuff I get so awkward"

"Ya but I enjoy seeing you awkward, that's how I know you truly appreciate something" he smiles wide

I push his chest and laugh "oh shut up you," he laughs and we both start walking to the exit. Before we could leave I see a familiar pair of eyes. Ones that I've been dreading to see for years. "Oh no," Trent looks at me weird but I motion to what I had just saw.

My father started walking towards us. The fear that left my body just came back. I thought that this had been over. Man was I wrong. "Shaima dear haven't I taught you not to stare" he says with a slight smirk

"What are you doing here?" I ask him and my grip on Trents hand tightens

"What do you think? I'm making sure you don't ruin your life with him" he motions over to Trent. I can feel his body tense as I remain under his touch.

"Nice to see you to Jonathan," Trent glares at him.

"Oh save the formalities, as you know some of us are not found of your relationship you have going on."

"Ya and what? Last time I checked it was just you and Sean that are upset. Masons dad is perfectly fine. And so is Mason for that fact so why is it such a big deal all of the sudden." I snap at my father. Guessing he didn't expect that as he looked at me in shock

"Looks like someone finally found out how to stand up to her father hey" he mocks me

"I'm not the same 17 year old girl that you use to abuse constantly, people change. And trust me I'm one of those people. If you even think I'm gonna let you come back here and try to threat me like how you did before." I stood up for myself, I had to and if I didn't then it would stay with me forever.

"Oh sweetheart since when did you think that it's alright to talk to me like that?" He lets out a chuckle. "At the end of the day, you'll end up with Mason. I'll make sure of it" he smiles and starts walking back into the mall.

I huffed and started walking towards the exit faster. Fast enough that Trent is trailing behind me. When I leave the building he finally catches up to me. He grabs my hand and twirls me around. Once he sees my face, his facial expression goes soft. I had tears falling from my eyes and I couldn't stop them. "Shaima" he sighs and pulls me into a hug. I immediately break down. So much feelings coming back at once with the problems my father and I had washed over me. The abuse, the name calling, watching him hurt my mother. It all took a toll on me. I thought I would never feel like this again. Man was I wrong.

Trent brings me into the car and tries his best to calm me down as he drives back to his place. Suddenly his phone starts ringing and he answers

"Trent are you with Shaima?!" He basically shouts as his face pops up on the screen.

"Yeah bro she's a bit shaken up can you meet us at mine" he tells Mason.

"Ya I'll be there in 10 minutes." He quickly hangs up

"Baby everything is gonna be okay. I won't let him hurt you or your mum"

"I thought he would leave us alone. Why can't he let us be happy?" I let some tears fall from my face.

"I don't know baby, I really don't know" Trent sighs and he pulls into his driveway. Instantly I see Mason in front of us and I get out the car and walk over to him.

"Oh Shay" he says and pulls me into a hug

"What are we gonna go Mase," I mumble into his chest. I pull us apart and see that him and Trent are now staring at each other. They both nod and I have a confused look on my face "what?"

"You gotta stay away from your place. Move in with trent so he doesn't know where to go. Shay that's our best option," Mason exclaims and Trent put his hand on my shoulder and gives it a squeeze

"Do you really think that's gonna work?"

"It's our best option as of right now," Trent sighs

"Okay, ya okay but what about my mum?"

"I already called her, they're staying at Raphs old flat that he's been renting out. We will make this work I promise."

I'll say it again because these guys don't understand. Don't promise something that you can not keep.
