"Hey purrincess."
I jump in shock. I turn to see Adrien leaning casually on the locker next to mine. I scowl at him.
I point at him and whisper, "you left me last night."
He laughs, "I know you missed me."
It's true. When I woke up to find the warmth of his body gone, I was disappointed. He left a sweet note saying that he had to leave before his father woke. He must have also woken and draped a blanket around me, because I woke to it tangled in my legs. I couldn't help but smile at that sweet gesture.
But I couldn't give him the satisfaction of him knowing that.
I scoff, "you know we aren't supposed to be talking."
He shrugs and looks around, taking in the busy school hallway, no one spares us a glance, "No one will notice if I wish M'lady a good morning."
I look at him, "fair enough."
He pushes off the locker, "you look beautiful as always M'lady, but I should get going."
He flashes me a boyish grin and winks. I smile as he turns and heads down the hallway.
The rest of the day is uneventful. Miss Bustier, the science teacher, announced a test, adding another thing to my to-do list. Nino and Alya are officially a couple and seem very close. She tells me about their first date and a very detailed description of how they kissed.
Upon my arrival at home, I hear my mom called out to me, "Marinette, sweetheart, come here for a second!"
I put my backpack on a stool on the couch and join her in the kitchen.
She sits in the seat under the window. Her black hair is twisted into her signature bun. She is surrounded by organized stacks of paper that she seems to be checking and signing. She notices me and smiles.
"Hello, how was your day sweetheart."
I let out a sigh and sit across from her. I put my head on the table and watch her go through the papers.
"Same old," I mutter.
She stops and looks at me, "Anyway, since we started delivering things have gotten a lot busier. My hands are all tied up. And your father is stuck baking. Without checking, we promised a customer to have pastries delivered by tonight. Could you be a dear and deliver them later tonight?"
I groan.
"Marinette," my mother warned.
"Fine," I lift my head up, "what time?"
"I call for you sometime after dinner."
I shoot her a thumbs up and get up from the table. I grab my backpack from the couch and head upstairs. I can't help but lay on my chaise for a moment, savoring the moment of peace. But it's interrupted when I remember my designs that need to be finished and my upcoming science test.
I groan and sit up, pulling contents out of my bag.
After hours of struggling over science and finalizing a design, my mom calls me downstairs.
She hands me the package and gives me directions.
The walk will take about 20 minutes, which gives me time to study later. It's not my patrol night, so I can only hope there is no akuma.
I leave my warm house and into the cool evening. I bring my thin spring jacket closer.
I easily find the destination and deliver the package. The customers were more than happy to receive their pastries.
