Mi-Sun could see the sunlight behind her eyelids, causing what was once darkness to glow with red. As she slowly came to, she realized she could hear low music playing and the smell of brown sugar danced through her nostrils.
She opened her eyes, looking out of the large windows in front of her. The sky was bright and blue with not a single cloud in sight. She sat up, turning her head towards the kitchen and that's when she was greeted by a bubbly Jimin. He had a white apron on over his baby blue pajamas. He tossed one final waffle onto a stack and turned off the stove. She stared at him for a moment. She didn't want this moment to drift away. This is one she wanted to remember.
"Good morning beautiful." Jimin said gracefully with a smile on his face.
"Good morning! You've been a busy boy haven't you?" Mi-Sun bent her legs towards her chest and she rested her face on her knees, watching Jimin.
"Just a little." He started putting things on the dining table. "My favorite memories from when I was little are Sunday mornings when I would wake up to my mom's famous waffles and hearing her listening to her favorite music. I wanted to give you that comfort feeling."
He took off his apron, hanging it over a hook on his pantry door.
Mi-Sun stared in awe at the beautiful sight of the waffles, complemented with two plates and two glasses of pear juice.
Jimin hovered over Mi-Sun, putting his hand out for her to grab. "I hope you're hungry."
Mi-Sun placed her hand in Jimin's and allowed him to pull her up, walking her to the table. They sat and Jimin placed a waffle on her plate.
"Try it!" Jimin said excitedly.
Mi-Sun smiled kindly at him and cut a piece of the waffle. She closed her eyes as she chewed so she could take in all of the flavors in her mouth.
Her eyes widened, "This is amazing Jimin!"
"It's cooked with butter and brown sugar so you don't need syrup. It's a simple sweetness."
"It's perfect."
Mi-Sun speedily ate her first waffle and grabbed another.
"How would you feel about spending the day with me? We can do whatever you want."
Mi-Sun swallowed and put her silverware on her plate, "I don't think I can."
"Do you have other plans?"
Mi-Sun shook her head, "I just have something I need to take care of." She looked around for a clock, "Shit! What time is it?"
"It's ten, why? What's wrong?"
Mi-Sun quickly stood up and grabbed her things, "I need to go. Fuck! I'm so late."
Memories of her mom laying in bed flooded her mind. Jimin grabbed her arms, "Take a breath, where do you need to go? I'll take you."
