𝐍𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 - 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬

𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲

Florence had been with Steve for about six months when she first held the shield,

"What are you doing?" Steve asked as he found the young girl,

She was so agile on her feet that he never knew where she was.

"Oops," Florence giggled as she fell back with the shield on top of her,

"It's heavy," she added with a groan,

"Let me help," the brunette made his way over to her as he knew she'd need the help,

"I'm a big girl," the ginger furrowed her eyebrows as she struggled,

"Yeah but this is heavy," he shot back using her words,

"What is it for?" she asked as he pulled it off of her,

"The shield?" Steve cocked his head as he sat down and placed the girl in his lap,

"Yeah," Florence nodded as she pushed her hair out of her face,

"It protects us," the brunette began as he realised that he had to redo her hair,

It was the one thing he was really struggling with when it came to being her parent.

"Gives people something to believe in." He added as he braided it,

"Really?" The ginger asked as she nodded forgetting that she was meant to keep her head still,

"Yeah," Steve nodded as he finally finished,

"And as long as it is in the right hands you will always be safe," he added as he turned her around and watched as her big eyes looked up at him,

"That's a promise." The boy sighed as he placed a kiss on her head.

Whilst Florence had been on her walk she came across this abandoned building and decided that it would be where she just cleared her head,

"Why are you making me do this?" John asked as he cocked his head,

"It's what is right," Sam sighed as he looked at the boy,

"So Florence is here," Bucky quickly pointed out as he watched John be levitated off of the ground,

"I warned you about hurting someone with the shield," Florence spat as she walked out into the open,

"And you still did it," she added as she raised her other hand quickly noticing that John was gasping for air,

Somehow the second hand that she raised was choking him.

"Flo-" Sam began as he realised that she was trying to kill the man.

"Shut the fuck up," the ginger spat as she shook her head,

"I'm teaching him a lesson," she added as she didn't show any signs of stopping,

"Stand down Princess, that's an order," Bucky spoke up as he figured he would go the same way Steve used to discipline her,

"I don't take orders from you Buck," Florence shook her head as she didnt take her eyes off of the boy,

"When I tell you to stand down I mean it," the raven-haired boy had his prosthetic hand around her neck as he pushed her against the wall that was behind her,

"I'm sorry," he added the second he heard the sound of John hit the ground,

"Fuck you," the ginger spat as she thought that he would have been on her side,

"This isn't you John," Sam shook his head as he looked at the blonde,

"We could have been a team," John glared as he shook his head and ran over to hit Sam,

"You'll never be captain America," Sam sighed as he somehow managed to land beneath John,

"Now get off of him," Florence spoke up as she moved John off of Sam knowing that he wasn't planning on stopping hurting people with the shield,

"It's mine," John groaned as he watched the shield land by the girl's feet.

"It's over," the ginger shook her head as she picked it up,

"He said that we would be protected by the shield, as long as it never fell into the wrong hands." She sighed as she made her way over to Sam who was still on the ground,

"So thanks Sam," the girl spat as she let it land on the ground before walking away.

The mood amongst the group had been off ever since the fight,

"Karli is gone," Sam sighed as he looked at his phone,

"They can only find her followers," he added clearly feeling disappointed,

"Hey you guys got the shield back," Joaquin smiled as he walked in,

"Are you two off to take care of Zemo?" Sam asked seeing the couple turn around to leave,

"Good to know you survived," Joaquin watched as they turned to send him one final look,

"Fuck off," Florence flipped him off before walking out.

Bucky and Florence had spent a lot of time together but they had barely spoken a word to each other,

At least until now.

"You didn't need to stop me," Florence sighed as she tucked her hair behind her ears,

"You were going to kill him," Bucky pointed out as he looked at her,

"And that would have been a problem because?" The ginger shot back as she cocked her head,

"I wasn't going to let him be the first person you killed." The raven-haired boy shook his head as he didn't want to watch her go through it,

"I don't know if you remember or not, but you haven't been present in my life up until my dad had to save your ass," she shot back with a smirk,

"And I've killed people before." She added in a duh tone as she sighed,

"Steve wouldn't have wanted you to do it," he mumbled as he began to think of reason why she may have done it,

"So how exactly do you know what Steve would have wanted?" Florence asked as she cocked her head,

"Please do share, I would love to know." She added in a sarcastic tone,

"Can we please not talk about this right now?" Bucky asked as he was clearly disappointed in something,

"He wanted us to keep you safe and if you were in jail that wouldn't be it." He added as he looked at her and saw that her heart dropped,

She never knew Steve made them keep their eye on her.

"As I've said countless times before I'm a big girl," the ginger masked her confusion with the anger that still boiled in her belly,

"And don't try to stop me again or I may use my powers on you instead." She added in a warning tone hoping that she would never have to get to that point.
