"Mmm... you're right." She looped her arm in mine with a yawn. "But I'm glad to have my best friend back."

"You too bestie." I laughed.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

I woke up from a terrible sleep, probably because I was sitting up right. I took my phone into my hands. "Or it's because I slept for three hours..." I muttered, turning the screen off. It was about 7am, and the cafe opens at 8. I tried to free my arm softly from Niki's grasp.

"Mmm..." Niki startled, and I froze. "Good morning (Y/N)."

"Good morning," I spoke softly, releasing my arm. "Sorry for waking you,"

"No worries," She yawned, "I'm getting up soon anyways," she held her phone, "I have an alarm for 8."

"I need to get to work at 8." I rubbed my eyes.

"You have a change of clothes?"

I opened my mouth to say yes instinctively, but paused. "N.. no."

"Here, I have a few sweaters that might fit you." She sat up, straightening her spin as she walked to her closet. "And some pants."

"It's alright, I can just-"

"Take it." She threw me some clothes.

"Alright then."

After a while, I left Niki's apartment, and started down the roads to my cafe. I arrived a few minutes early, so I decided to make myself a latte. I sipped slowly at it, while I waited for the first customer of the day to come in. "Hello, welcome!" I smiled as a couple walked in, "How may I help you?"

"Can I get an iced coffee?" One asked.

"And can I have a English breakfast tea, one milk one sugar?" The other asked.

"Sure thing," I tapped on the cash register. "Five fifty, will that be cash or card?"

"Cash." They passed me the cash and coins in exact.

"Thank you, for here or to go?"

"For here please,"

"You guys can sit over there," I gestured to the seating area, "I'll call you when it's ready."

"Thank you." they moved towards the seating area, chatting about something while one of them giggled at what the other said. How I would pay an arm and a leg for that.

"(Y/N)!" I heard a voice call when I was making the espresso for the iced coffee, and I looked up.

"Oh hey Nathan!" I pulled the small cup away from the machine, pouring it into the cup that had ice and milk inside. I looked up, placing the cup down as I poured milk and sugar into the tea. "What brings you here?"

"Actually, Kathy told me that you needed a hand." Nathan returned, leaning on the bar of the coffee station.

"Really?" I spoke softly as I stirred the tea. "One iced coffee, one tea!" I projected to the other side of the room, sliding the cup towards them as they came to take it. "Why? I can just look for others if you just wanna, y'know..."

"What?" Nathan tilted his head in confusion.

"Continue the streaming thing! God damn it kid." I exclaimed disappointingly.

"I will, but I can do this part time, and I have wanted to work at a cafe for a while."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"What can you do?"

"Whatever your mini espresso machine can do...?

"Yes... that's my only experience."

"I've seen." I wiped the spout that steams the milk, thinking.

"So...?"

"You're in, it might I have aprons in the back, you can wear whatever, start whenever you want, I don't really care." I paused, before speaking again. "Just nothing inappropriate."

"Who do I look like, Tommy? Or his girlfriend?"

"They would do that."

"Unironically too."

"Aren't they your best friends?"

"Unfortunately."

"Ah." I sighed.

"Can I start now?" Nathan asked.

"Go ahead, I'll give you an apron." I opened the side door to the bar, and picked and apron out from the back.

"Oh hey welcommmmmmmmmmme-oooooooOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH SHI- SHOOT HI NIKI!" I heard Nathan greet- no, panic? From the front.

"Niki?" I poked my head out.

"Hey!" she smiled, waving.

"Hey!" I smiled, "What are you doing here? I mean, I just left your place."

"That's why you didn't go home last night- Y'know Kath called me like- eight times."

"Oh yikes... I have to say sorry for that later-"

"You better, she sounded panicked as fuck."

"Don't swear in my cafe." I threw him the apron.

"You swear here all the time!"

"I do." I spoke quickly, yet softly, "shush, Nath." I sighed.

"You work here now, Nathan?" Niki looked from me to Nathan and to me again.

"As of two seconds ago." The male tied the apron behind him.

"Being my sister's boyfriend has a perk... Anyways, How are you today, Niki?"

"I'm good! I just got a video out, and I'm just going to work on a song I'm writing later, how are you?"

"I'm good." I smiled, "How may I-... well, we, help you today?"

"Hm... do you have any recommendations?"

"You're not allergic to nuts, are you?"

"Nope."

(A/N: I think not)

"You okay if we test Nathan out?"

"What?" The man jumped beside me.

"Of course."

"Good, Nathan, let's see what you can do."

"Wha- what am I making?"

"Iced or hot?"

"Iced."

I turned back to Nathan. "Iced hazelnut latte."

"Where's your syrups?"

"Come here I'll show you." I sighed, squatting down in front of the cabinet under the espresso machines.

Niki's P.O,V.

She's just as stubborn and headstrong as always huh? I smiled, leaning on the bar as (Y/N) tsked at Nathan while he tried to find the hazelnut syrup. I watched as she looked over the man as she guided him through making the drink, and eventually, with a sigh, she shut the lid on the cup.

Speaking of her being headstrong...

Flashback, when they were 3

"Here Niki!" (Y/N) held out a plush bee.

"What?"

"Take it!"

"No, you won it!" I stood shocked. It was after the talent show, and I was right behind (Y/N) with a second place, but she won the stuffie.

"Well, take it!"

"No, you won it."

"Just take it."

"No."

"Here." She threw it into me, and ran off. "Mom!"

Unflashes your back, (Y/N)'s P.O.V.

"You need to get used to the machines here, that's all." I slid the cup gently towards Niki. "And here's your hazelnut latte."

"Thank you." She slid a ten dollar bill over the bar.

"Oh no that's too much-" I was going to push the bill back over when she put a hand over mine, pressing down.

"Take it. It's a payback for that talent show."

"After 22 years?"

"After 22 years."

"Damn."

"Payback." She took the drink from the countertop.

"Oh fuck off."

"See you later!" The woman gave a little salute before pushing the door open and walking out.

"o7... I guess." Nathan added with, confused.

"Go get the coffee machines ready or something-"

"-but they already are!-"

"-just make yourself useful"
