"That's odd."
Gulf shook his head as he looked at the calendar.
"That's strange. That's really strange."
"What are you muttering about?"
It was weekend. As usual, Mew came over to Gulf's house for dinner and beer. Mew was feeling lighthearted and seemed in a good mood today.
"Oh, could it be your period hasn't come?"
"I've never had one in my life." Gulf spat. Mew was probably used to seeing countless girls worrying over a calendar. "That's the first thing that springs to your mind, eh? I guess it's not surprising, seeing as you've fathered your fair share of kids."
"Nope."
Mew grinned and crushed with his fist the can of beer he had finished drinking. He took another one out of the fridge.
Gulf rarely drank at home, but because of Mew's influence, his fridge was now stocked with beer. Along with the beer, wine and sake were also chilling in there.
"Well, it wouldn't be that weird if you were pregnant."
"Of course it would be weird! If you keep acting like this I won't cook you any dinner tonight."
Gulf stuck his tongue out. Mew shrugged.
"Well then, can I eat you instead? I'n fine with either."
"Fine. I'm making dinner!" Gulf got back to preparing the food. He was afraid that Mew actually meant what he said.
"So, why were you looking at the calendar then?"
"Oh, it's nothing," Gulf said, and started putting together some appetizers. But he did mutter something under his breath, something that Mew couldn't hear.
"It's weird that we've been together for over a month."
The longest Mew had ever dated anyone had been three weeks. He'd heard that before Mew came to university, he had dated someone for six months, but probably only because he couldn't be bothered to break up with her. Since then girls had only lasted him a few weeks.
It had already been a month and a half since the first time they had sex. There weren't any signs that Mew wanted to break up with him. Rather, they'd been sleeping together every day. It wasn't just sex though. Every night one of the them would sleep over at the other's house and spend the night in the same bed.
Moreover, with the girls that Mew had dated before, he would meet with them once or twice a week. And as soon as he got bored, he'd split up with them. The total amount of time he'd spent with his various girlfriend didn't seem to amount half as much of the time he'd now spent playing around with Gulf.
"What's that about, I wonder?" Gulf cocked hisbhead.
Everyday together. Sex everyday, in the same bed every night. He had expected Mew to be tired of him by now. He never could have anticipated this.
He had only hoped for a short time, but now he dared to hope for something longer.
He'd started to delude himself that they might be real lovers.
He had to stop it.
If he got dumped, he would never be able to get over it.
After they broke up, he wanted them to stay as friends.
He wanted them to be the same, just without the sex.
He accepted that they might break up at any moment.
'What am I going to do? Every day, I like him more and more.'
His mind was so full of Mew that he thought of nothing else.
In his happiness, time had flown by.
'Can I let go of this now?'
"Can I spend time alone, without Mew?'
'I never knew it was going to be like this...'
Gulf had no idea that he was going to be the one to end it.
