Chapter 10: Back To Normal
One second I was holding on to Dante as we stared at the rain dropping from the sky. The next thing I knew my arms were empty and Dante was no where in sight. I sighed, as I made my way back into the house.
I had no dreams that night. I barely went to sleep. Partly, because I didn’t want my real dream to be over. I kept picturing Dante. The way he put his arms around me or the way his lips felt against mine.
The other reason I didn’t want sleep to come was because of the dreams that usually came. To explain them in one word: strange. It always started and ended in the same way. There was a bright light and my body edged closer. In a pile of ashes lie the bodies of everyone I cared for. I glanced to my right and saw Dante looking at the same thing I was. “This is all your fault, you know,” he said, shaking his head, and walking off into the light. Then the bright light came back and I usually woke up screaming.
At the crack of dawn, I got out of bed and took a quick shower. I tried not to think about anything as I let the hot water pour over me. I wore a pair of shorts and a black V-neck.
Mom and Dad were already down stairs. I rested against the entrance way as I watched them. Dad rested his hands on the bottom of Mum’s back. He kissed her passionately. They seemed just in love as they always have been.
I snuck out the back door unnoticed. I sat there and listened to music that seemed to flow throughout my entire body. Minutes later, I felt someone beside me. I looked over to see Ariel. I turned down the music, so it was in the background. “Hey, brother.
He smiled briefly. “I met their daughter.”
I knew exactly what he was speaking of. “They have a daughter, too.” He nodded. “I think I’m in love,” he said, smiling a little. He shook his head. “You know it’s bad when I look at Mum and Dad having a slobber fest, and I actually feel happy for them.”
I choked out a laugh. “I guess that means I must be in love, also.” He grinned, nudging my shoulder.
