5- Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now

T/W: blood, periods. (don't recommend for boys)

Ashley

I was awoken by dad banging pots and pans.

"Ashley Katherine Jonas, it's time for you to wake up!", he yelled.

"Dad! You're going to wake up Alena! Quit it!", I groaned, putting my pillow over my head.

"Ash, I will not hesitate to pull you out of that bed.", dad said sternly.

"I'd like to see you try.", I mumbled, forgetting Jonas' had a heightened sense of hearing.

I heard my door swing open and my covers being ripped off.

Dad began pulling me out of bed.

"Dad! I wasn't being serious.", I sighed, standing up.

"Get in the shower, and do whatever else you girls do.", he replied, mumbling the last bit as he walked away.

I took a nice shower, washed my brown hair and put on a nice outfit.

Some normal skinny jeans, a T-shirt and my Nike sneakers.

I ran my hands through my damp hair and sighed.

Brown was getting to me, and I wanted to change it.

I'd have to ask mom, I thought.

I walked downstairs after doing my mascara and saw mom in the kitchen.

"Hey sweetie! How did you sleep?", mom asked, kissing my cheek.

"Pretty well, though dad woke me up and practically pulled me out of bed.", I sighed.

"It wasn't practically, I did do it.", he yelled from the dining table.

I stuck my tongue out at him.

All of a sudden, my stomach began to hurt.

"Mom, my stomach hurts.", I groaned.

"Ash, it's probably a passing bug. You'll be fine.", mom said.

"No, but it hurts bad.", I replied.

She gave me some oatmeal with a pill and told me to take it.

I had gone to school before this, but it was only for three days.

I had made a few friends, Abby Camper, Jack Winslow, Savannah Walker and Ava Righi.

We all had our little group.

They knew who I was, but didn't let it get to them.

True friends, am I right?

I eventually got into the car with dad and we drove to my school.

"You feeling any better?", he asked, glancing at me.

I nodded my head no, rolling down the window to get air.

"You'll be good. And if anything, mom or I will come pick you up early.", he smiled.

I poked my head out of the window to look at the place I called home, New Jersey.

He eventually dropped me off and I met up with my friends.

"Hey Ash.", Abby said, hugging me.

"Hey.", I replied, groaning.

"You good, Ley?", Jack asked.

I nodded, running to the girls bathroom.

And everything from that morning began to come up.

I wiped my mouth as I sat on the now flushed toilet.

I got up and there was blood.

Everywhere.

I then remembered how Abby told me she had gotten her period and how she bled everywhere.

Oh no.

I texted mom.

Mama Jonas
A: mama

A: mama I need your help

A: right now

D: you okay?

A: I got my period.

D: I had a feeling that's what it was this morning. Ask Abby for a pad. Remove the paper and put the sticky side down on your underwear. Then put the little wings on the back. I'm coming in an hour, I'm at a meeting in Hudson County.

A: alright.

"Abby!", I yelled.

"Are you okay, Ashley?", she asked.

"I kinda got my period, and I was wondering if I could have a pad.", I replied.

She squealed.

"Do you realize you're a woman now? You can have kids.", she asked.

My heart dropped.

Kids. Having kids.

I was told I wouldn't be able to have them because of something that happened in the accident.

I burst into tears, as I banged on the bathroom stall door.

"Why are you- oh. I'm so sorry Ashley, if I brought back bad memories.", Abby said.

I nodded no and she gave me the pad.

She helped me along the way, from the other side of the door.

She walked me to the nurse's office and stayed there with me until mom came, because first period didn't start until 9, and it was 8:30.

"Thank you, so much Abby.", mom smiled.

"You're welcome, Mrs. Jonas.", she replied.

Mom eventually took me home, but not before calling dad and getting Starbucks for the two of us.

The two of them basically gave me the 'talk.'

Then we went home, and all was peaceful.
