*for the purposes of this one shot , Spencer will be only a year younger than everyone else*
Emily Prentiss had never been a fan of new schools. In fact, she couldn't remember the last time she actually enjoyed being at school. Even though no one her age actually enjoyed school, she disliked it for a completely different reason.
Although this school didn't seem quite as bad. Fairfax, Virginia wasn't too bad either. It fell about in the middle of all the places Emily had previously lived, and that's saying a lot. At least Emily had some friends. In the two months she'd been at school, she managed to make a few friends.
JJ was the first friend she made. She was kind and quiet sometimes. She was a little shorter than Emily, and she had bright blonde hair and blue eyes. Penelope was another story however. She dressed in bright, floral outfits and wore glasses. She was very outspoken and talkative. She was the complete opposite of Emily, but they somehow just clicked. And then there was Derek Morgan. He was a flirt to say the least. Although he was everything any girl wanted; he was tall, fit, handsome, and a smooth talker; Emily could see right through his facade.
Emily remembered the day she met Derek. He had hit on her in their calculus class and immediately asked for her number. She blatantly replied "no", and they had had a somewhat platonic friendship ever since. But not nearly as platonic as the friendship between Penelope and Derek. Apparently they had been friends since the beginning of high school, but despite their constant flirting, they were purely friends.
Emily was home alone. She would be for the next three months. Despite her past reputation at schools, she had never considered having a party at her house. She wasn't the biggest people person, which was the one thing her mother could trust her with. She usually just wondered around the house and blared music.

Emily work up around 7:30 to the sun beaming through her curtains. She slowly got up and walked into her closet. She quickly got dressed in a pair of black cargo pants and a black tank top crop top. She paired it with a chain belt and her gold cross necklace she always wore. She quickly threw on a pair of socks and black Doc Martens. After making herself breakfast, she drove to school, hoping that the day wouldn't bring too much trouble. After a quiet ten minute drive, Emily managed to find her friends in the crowded hallway. "Hey, Princess." Derek said in a slightly seductive tone.
I rolled my eyes at him and scoffed. "Hi Derek." I replied in a condescending tone.
"So where's your mom this month?" JJ asked as we began walking down the hall.
"Morocco I think." Emily shrugged. "I honestly don't even notice when she's gone anymore."
"Oh, Emily!" Penelope chimed in with a saddened voice. "That sounds awful. You know you can always stay with me and my family."
"Thanks for the offer, Penelope. But I'm fine. Really." Emily replied.
"Ok well you just call if you ever want to come over!"
"I will."
Suddenly Penelope sparked up. This was normal for her, but both there was nothing normal about Penelope to begin with. "Ooh! Guess what?" She asked happily.
"What?" Emily asked with a smirk.
"I found this guy I really think you'll like! His name is Sebastian, and he's in my computer science class. And he—"
"Nope. Sorry." Emily cut Penelope off. "I already don't like him."
Penelope almost stopped dead in her tracks. "What? Why? You didn't even let me finish."
