The kingdom passed by and as we went along Kinbridge told me the reasoning for somethings.
Oh that's a pretty building... that was apparently made to honor the souls that were sacrificed to stop the secret army trying to attack the town Mali.
Oh what a cool fountain... that was made in the place where children had been slaughtered by Hersban soldiers.
Everything here seemed to have a double meaning and so much history. It was like walking though a history book... though I supposed everything was like walking through a history book if you had the right people to tell you about the history of it.
Though it might be boring going through the forest learning about its past. I tried to imagine Fern showing me through the forest, pretending to be a philosopher, telling me which tree was planted when and what had occurred around that tree.
I couldn't without imagining her laugh while she did it.
I'm pretty sure no one could do that seriously... except maybe Wilder. He seemed a very serious fellow and Kinbridge said that yeah, he was usually like that, but at certain times he did manage to crack a joke or two... usually trying to insult Kinbridge.
I wasn't sure what to make of Kinbridge. On one hand he was hilarious... and he was even more funny when he complained about the horse. On the other he threatened several times to kill it and turn it into several slices of steak.
I so did not laugh... shut up.
Later than Kinbridge would have liked, I assume, we reached the small village of Qual. It looked quiet and peaceful, and had a cool bell tower in the distance.
"I'm afraid to say cool bell tower," I sighed and Kinbridge looked over at me, smiling sadly.
"It was created to tell people armies were invading..." Kinbridge told me, almost sheepishly. A couple women passed by and Kinbridge leaned to where they walked past.
"Ladies," Kinbridge said, smiling. They giggled and ran away, talking amongst themselves. I smiled at Kinbridge and decided I liked him.
Maybe it was because he was funny.... maybe it was because he seemed to be the only person willing to trust me... but honestly... it was because he could probably keep girls off my back. They would just go after him. Problem solved.
I looked up and saw the mountain in the distance... The one Fern had pointed to. Kinbridge caught my gaze and looked up at the mountain.
"So... why were you asking about the mountain exactly... I know it was about a girl... but I don't know how they are connected quiet yet," Kinbridge said, crossing his arms. I shrugged.
"I believe that I met a prophet," I told him sighing. Kinbridge's eyes became huge and he turned to me, surprised.
"I have never heard of a prophet sighting actually happening!" He told me and I nodded. I could get that... live on the top of a mountain surrounded by dangerous animals... people tend not to see too much of you.
"So how exactly did you and this woman meet?" Kinbridge asked and I looked at the ground, my face growing hot.
"She kind of saved my life..." I sighed out and Kinbridge looked at me startled.
"Well... she probably thinks she's tougher than you... I suggest as soon as you can for you to help her out of an extremely bad situation to get her to think you aren't helpless," Kinbridge told me, wagging a finger. I looked at the ground and nodded.
I really didn't want to be known as pathetically weak and needing her help for everything.
Oh why was I even contemplating this? I would probably never see her again... me a Prince... her a girl that plays in the forest. I thought about her green eyes and her reaction to when I called them beautiful. She hadn't been embarrassed as I had assumed... she had been afraid!
