Wishful thinking

I tried to tell myself that I would never see him again, but my voice wouldn't allow me to.

It wasn't like I didn't want to put voice to it... I literally couldn't. That was how the prophets made their prophecies... they tried to say ridiculous stories and see if their voices would allow it to happen. Most people thought we had visions.

Well... where would they COME FROM? Idiots.

Some even say that they were given to them by a great spirit or something... but no. It was basically stabbing in the dark and hoping you get lucky. Complicated enough for you? Wait... it gets harder. If you are thinking about the gift... it doesn't work.

Yes... Complicated.

Now you are probably wondering how on earth that even is able to happen. Like... why don't ordinary people out in the villages around the world start trying to do this... why is it just us on the mountain. Well... imagine it like this.

A long long longety time ago there was a HORRIBLE cook.

So he was always trying to make this amazing meal for his family... but yeah... he sucked at it. Put ingredients in like grass.

Who puts grass in a cake I don't know, but somehow in his twisted convoluted mind he thought it was a good idea. So one day he made a bad drink... and put MERCURY IN IT.

Bet he didn't know that certain amounts of mercury are POISONOUS... idiot.

He also added this other ingredient which I will not divulge because I know you type of people. Guy says don't try this at home... you do.

Well no! I will not have little prophets running around the world, thinking they can speak gibberish.

So eventually his family figured out that hey! They can basically guess at the future. So they got a bunch of their buds and gave them that horrible drink. The side effect... permanent pale skin, and luminescent green eyes.

Once upon a time I might have looked normal. I might of had blue eyes to go with my dark brown hair... or even black hair to go with the green eyes.

Instead I looked like two beautiful people had been mashed together and been combined into one perfectly average person.

Ah... you're still confused about how we came to live on a mountain in the middle of no where.

Well let me ask you this... if someone told you your dreams weren't going to come true after you asked them if they would, would you get upset? The stupid thing was they asked it. They really shouldn't have believed that just because they had asked it, it would come true.

When their dreams really DIDN'T come true like the old prophets predicted... they went after them... saying that they had cursed them. Soon people were hunting down anyone with green eyes and pale skin.

The combination became a despised thing.

To save us, the King created the village on top of the mountain and brought all of the prophets there and made going into the forest forbidden...saying that it was because there were dangerous animals in there.

Soon enough people forgot what we looked like and they didn't TOTALLY despise us.

There were still hate groups apparently, but only the very angry went into the forest after the prophets. For the most part people paid attention to the 'no going into the forest' rule.

If they didn't they had me to deal with. I smiled at that, but then looked at the ground, completely bored.

I sighed as I went to the path of the King. I wasn't done working... I still needed to examine the path. Suddenly I wished Kay was with me... I realized how lonely I could get in the forest.

I had hidden it even from myself. I was so alone.
