JACKIE incoming call...

thirty minutes into their call, jackie's tear stains were dried up. in fact, she cried for no reason. dream understood and listened, he hated listening to her cry, he hated that he wasn't there to comfort her.
he hated that he couldn't tell her that everything is okay, in person at least.
she explained everything, he listened. when he spoke, she listened. neither of them, especially jackie, would think it would be this easy.
that's the thing between the two of them, it was all so easy. but, of course, they were still scared.
scared that a conversation of theirs wouldn't come so easily, and that it would happen before jackie would fly to florida.
"just, don't make one of my friends fall in love with you again." he teased, "i'm just so irresistible, i'm sorry!" jackie replied.
"were you serious?"
"about what?"
"saying you were all for me?" clay asked.
"100 percent serious, i mean it with my whole entire being. there's nobody else that catches my eye besides you. conveniently, the faceless guy."
on the other line, clay smiled to himself, internally grateful that jackie wasn't able to see how red his face became.
"august 6th couldn't come slower, can i just fly out to see you right now?"
jackie gasped, "no no no, i would rather eat worms than have you come into my home."
"i'll clean it then, the entirety of it by myself if i had to."
"still a no. it's only two months from now." jackie sighed, forgetting how long it'll feel.
after a few minutes of complete silence on jackie's line, clay called out for her.
"jackie, are you sleeping?" he whispered, though it obviously didn't help his case.
"jackie." he said for the last time.
he also grew tired, instead of hanging up he decided to leave the call going.
together or not, sleeping on the phone felt nice. it felt as if someone was really there with you, and clay enjoyed every second of it until he fell asleep.
