031, jackiewastaken (but still single)

"you look really pretty when you smile."

jackie's already wide smile went much wider, making her cheek bones ache.

"nerd!" karl yelled from the other couch, jackie stuck her tongue out at him, teasing karl.

"karl, go talk to your body pillow or something." dream remarked and jackie, who look at karl, began laughing her lungs out. both jackie and karl remembered when jackie teased him for it earlier. karl's reaction was not as vocal.

karl slouched into the couch, blowing a piece of hair that kept falling on his face. he thought about a quick comeback at dream.

"dream, go and ask jackie out already." karl covered his face by pulling up his hoodie, laughing at his own response.

jackie held her laugh back, knowing dream would probably end up hanging up. anger issues man, she also knew that dream had attempted to "ask her out" many times but she would always brush it off.

it wasn't that she didn't like dream, she would rather be physically with him before they made anything official. jackie just wasn't sure if she could repress her feelings enough to wait until august.

dream wanted to just fly to north carolina that night just to know how it would feel to have her hand clasping his. her head buried in his chest, him leaning his head into the crook of her neck, even though he really didn't know if that could realistically happen due to their drastic heights.

he thought the same every single night, it's not a surprise that jackie also thought the same way dream did.

august just couldn't come sooner.

"jream, thats the same name. drackie, gross. jackiewastaken?"

karl kept rambling on about ship names for jackie and dream, the two continued to talk to each other.

"jackiewastaken, is that the one"

karl thought to himself for a second, he shook his head. "but she's still single, so, jackiewastaken but still single."

karl looked at jackie for some sort of acknowledgment of what he just said. she was just laughing at something that dream said, karl huffed out a loud breath.

he looked over at jackie, her undivided attention on still on dream. he sighed even louder, jackie finally look at him.

"you okay?"

"no yeah, yeah just fine. until i realized i was speaking to a brick wall."

"yeah uhm, sorry about that karl," jackie finally caught on, realizing that she only had limited time being at karl's. he was always welcoming her with open arms into his home, and jackie couldn't talk to dream while karl just stayed on his phone for three hours.

"dream i'm gonna go, i'll text you later though, kay?"

it was clear that she did look upset, but dream wasn't going anywhere. dream on the other hand, felt that jackie was going to leave him in some way if they didn't met soon enough.

"yeah, bye jackie." he quickly said, jackie hung up.

"you two are cringe."

jackie stuck her middle finger up, flipping karl off. in return karl began laughing.

once the silence finally set in, karl and jackie sat in a comfortable silence.
