It was a nice evening in Dream Land, and you were doing some shopping. You happened to pass by a display of a baggy hoodie and jeans. They looked so comfortable! If only you could buy them. Unfortunately, you were broke thanks to using all your money to move here. At least your part-time job at Kawasaki's got you a good amount of mone-

OOF!

You fell to the floor, shopping bags all over. You open your eyes to see... wait, the King of Dream Land?! Dedede the Great?!

"Hey!" He yelled. "Watch where you're going, ya idiot!" You clumsily got up, responding, "I-I'm so sorry your majesty! It won't happen again, I swear to Nova!" Dedede scoffed, muttering something along the lines of "Yeah, right." You picked up all your bags and went off to do more windowshopping.

To be honest, you loved Dedede. Although he was pretty much a jerk, some say he's kind to his friends. Besides that, he was attractive, and even helped the hero Kirby out... sometimes. You lightly blushed. What could a commoner like you do to steal the heart of the king?

A few minutes later, you returned home. You went to your bedroom and pulled out a letter. It was supposed to be a love letter for Dedede, but you were always too nervous to give it to him. And besides, even if you did, he'd probably laugh in your face and deny you.

It was kind of hot in your room, so you opened a window. You looked outside, admiring the beauty of Dream Land. Suddenly, there was a strong gust of air. It was strong enough to knock the letter, which was previously in your hands, out of your grasp. You desperately tried to grab it, but no use.

Oh no. Ohhhh no.

You slammed the window shut. Your once carefully concealed love letter to the king had been stolen by the wind! What were you going to do?! You opened the front door of your house and raced after it. You chased it- all the way into the same marketplace you were before. Eventually you lost sight of the letter, and decided to look around. And you did find it- but it was too late. Someone was already picking it up- and it was Dedede! But you could stop this! Before he could take a closer look, you yelled, "STOP!"

Dedede's eyes met yours as you ran over to him. "A-Apologies, your majesty, but that letter is mine! And it contains stuff you probably wouldn't want to read! S-So just... give that letter to me..." Dedede laughed. "And why should I listen to you, huh? C'mon- I bet there's some interesting stuff 'ere." This was it. You were about to be humiliated in front of everyone- and the person that embarrassed you was the great King himself. Maybe it was better if you hadn't moved here.

Dedede began reading the letter out loud:

"To King Dedede,

I never thought I'd fall for an arrogant jerk, but here I am, writing this love letter. And Dedede, I want you to know that you are perfect to me. You're funny, kind when you need to be, and attractive as well. You're a powerful softie, and that's a trait in people I like. But I know you won't love me back, haha. After all, you're the almighty king of Dream Land, and I'm a person who used all their money just to move here! But I just want you to know that I'd do anything for you- even if you don't do the same.

Sincerely, (Y/N)."

Dedede's voice got quieter and quieter as he read the letter. When he was on the last sentence, he was just a whisper. And after he finished, he looked at you, a surprised look on his face.

"I-I'm so sorry...!" You said, tears streaming down your face. "I'm so sorry you had to read all that! Because I'm correct about one thing- you'll never return my feelings!" You began sobbing, feeling like a child. But, strangely, Dedede just smiled.

"It's okay."

You stopping crying, surprised at his response.

"To be honest, I've been havin' a lot of bad memories of being possessed by Dark Matter and stuff. Reading this letter made me feel better, and... well, reminded me that there were people that were lookin' out for me and making sure I was okay." He explained. He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a hug. "Thank you for this."

And as you hugged him back, you whispered back...

"You're welcome."
