It's such a treacherous thing to think a person is anything more than just a person.
The breeze flows through my long hair as I fly through the night towards my destination. I can't believe I agreed to do this. Well technically, I didn't agree, I was forced by a one-eyed man who has never smiled a day in his life. I roll my eyes at the stupidity of it all as I continue towards my own personal he- the compound. I've never met any of the Avengers before and quite frankly, I still don't want to. I have nothing against said Avengers, but they are a nuisance with the whole "we can't kill anyone" and "putting them in jail so they can have an opportunity to break out and cause problems for us again" bullshit is the reason why I can't stand them. Fuck Nick for talking me into this.
I finally make it to the compound, and I land right in front of the giant building. I look up at the large Avengers logo plastered on the side of it and roll my eyes. How tacky. I honestly preferred the tower in the middle of New York better. Like whose genius idea was it to move the Avengers farther away from where they are needed the most. Most of them can't fly, so how are they going to get to the action fast enough. Like honestly, I can imagine Captain America hijacking a bus to get to New York City just as the battle is ending and half of New York's population is dead.
I realized I have been standing outside the compound with a disgusted look on my face for the past ten minutes. I probably look so stupid right now. I grab my phone, about to call Nick, when I see a black SUV pull up next to me. He gets out of the car and walks up the steps to where I am standing in front of the doors.
"Took you long enough, I've been sitting here daydreaming for the past fifteen minutes. Needless to say, I looked like a complete idiot thanks to you."
"Well, what's new. Let's get inside before I get calls from Stark wondering why there's a random woman in front of his building."
I give Nick a blank stare and follow him inside the oversized building. The inside is ginormous and filled with a bunch of shit I'm too lazy to discuss. Use your imagination love. I follow him towards an elevator on the left side. He selects the third floor and the elevator begins to move.
"I don't want to be here."
"I know you don't."
"Then why am I here?"
"Stop asking dumbass questions. You're here because you want to be here and because we need you. Now, we are about to get off of this elevator and we are going into a room filled with the Avengers."
"Nick it's 3am, I thought you were just going to show me around and then I could leave, and you would call me or something."
"I called Stark and told him to gather everyone in the conference room. I think it would be best to break the news to them now, rather than later."
The elevator comes to a stop and he exits to the right as we make our way towards the conference room. I'm honestly feeling a little nervous right now. Nick set me in a trap and I'm honestly pissed. I didn't think I would have to meet every Avenger right now. I'm not dressed cute enough and my hair and makeup is a mess from flying. I try and smooth out my hair as best as possible and I also use the camera from my phone and fix any smeared makeup. We get to a large door, obviously leading to the dreaded conference room. I turn towards Nick as he turns towards me.
"I'm going to go in there first and talk to them and then I will call you in. Do not move and do not touch anything, alright?"
"I'm not a fucking child Nicholas. I will bring you down to my home and burn you in hell fire for all of eternity if you talk to me like that again."
