To the Rescue

“I really love it when you speak my full name. It sounds like it is being spoken by an angel.”

Of course he is the driver and he is the road expert but this man prefers longer road trips than convenient short cuts. I turned my head to the car window and crossed my hands.

“I know you love these old roads, Sebastian but we better save time.”

I pouted my lips waiting for his defense.

“If you only took shower fast my love, we could have more time admiring this beautiful road. Look at the trees, short cuts don’t have these kind of view! How about that beach beside us, it is so refreshing to smell sea air-”

“Hey! Put that car window down Sebastian Sanchez! It took me long time to fix my hair.”

I suddenly interrupted his adoration towards nature because he tried to let the strong wind ruin my hair. He immediately closed the car window and grasped my left hand.

 “I really love it when you speak my full name. It sounds like it is being spoken by an angel.”

I found myself giggling while turning the radio’s volume up. He is humming the song on the radio while he grapples the steering wheel with his left hand as we drive the blind curve. All went black all of a sudden, and then I heard James calling me.

“Lindy! Can you hear me? Hey, wake up! Hey w-

~~~
“Hey! Lindy, Wake up!”
I began seeing a blurry face of James. His voice began to sound clearer and louder but as I force myself to get up, my weak arms could not even support my upper body.
“Don’t force yourself up, Lindy.”
Shivers through my body made me flipped the unfamiliar guy’s hands. He has this prominent jaw line and perfectly carved nose. I also noticed that he has this well-built figure, capable of lifting a pregnant woman. His eyes were deep that you would melt on his stare.
“I think she’s not okay, let’s bring her to the hospital.”
Surprised and confused I only managed to let out few words.
“What happened?”
James helps me sit on the couch and the unfamiliar guy offered me a warm water to drink. As he extends his hands, I notice the tips of his left fingers were callused. I wonder what this guy does.
“Glad you are hard headed and you only broke the tub, not your head. I left my keys and went back but you were not answering. You were not answering your phone but I heard it rang. I had no other choice but to call the landlord and ask for keys.”
So this is the landlord.
“Name’s Martin, landlord’s son.”
 My mind is still processing of what just happened. Sure, my tub is an old one. I have to discard it at the moment and look for another one. I noticed a blood dropping from my upper right side of my forehead. Did I just dream about Sebastian? It felt so real and now these young men are worried because I almost killed myself. I take a sip of the water Martin offered.
“Thank you so much gentlemen, you may now leave and pretend that nothing happened because I am now okay.”
I try my best to stand up but still I lost my balance. My ankle hurts. Martin grabs my foot and I instantly jolt in pain.
“You sprained your ankle and you hurt your head. Please don’t force yourself up. Let me bring you to a nearby clinic.”
Martin insisted.
“Great! So I have to go to school on time. You guys have fun. Bye!”
Great indeed! Now I am with this unfamiliar man and I am allowing him to take me to a place that I don’t know and I don’t have any strength to protect myself. I hope he is a good guy. James rushed out of the apartment even before I finished my thought.
“Lindy, right? I have to tell you that I fixed your laptop while James tried waking you up. Sorry that I was so rude that I touched your things without your permission but I think you needed that for your work.”
I was quite surprised of how not awkward he is to me when he speaks. Trying to look for words to answer him, he helped me walk and assisted me as I lock the front door.
“It’s okay Martin, I am also sorry I bothered your plans today. As long as my files are safe and my computer is healthy, there is nothing for you to worry about.”
As we approached the stairs, he offered his back.
“Hop on.”
