Sunday fellowship

I feel like not going to church today because I had cast on my ankle and I need to have crutches with me but James insisted. He drove us there. Gladly, Martin certainly is a good guy. It was a good idea to have a trip to the clinic, good thing I only receive stitches from the doctor. I look so stunning on this beautiful Sunday, with a patch on my head and with a support system on my arms. James found us a perfect parking space near the entrance. As he pulled over, I think I know what will happen next.

“Nice to see you again!”

From the entrance, I heard Jacob’s voice. His smile shifted to frown as James assisted me out of the car.

“It’s nice to see you again brother! It has been a long time!”

I nearly fell when James left me on my crutches and hugged Jacob like they had never seen each other for decades. Good thing I have regained my upper body strength. What a lovely moment for the three of us. Wanting them undisturbed, I quietly walk away but Jacob noticed it.

“Hey, don’t be too hard on yourself. We’re here to help you.”

“You are such ‘Miss Independent Woman’ sis!”

Both of them are on the same team and here I am, feeling like a damsel in distress! Jacob finds the perfect spot for the three of us as the praise and worship starts.

Ahhhh, feels like home.

I thought to myself. Christian music always revives my dying soul. Looking at Jacob and James catching up while I am listening to this heavenly music feels like home. It has been four years since our family last attended the church. I do not know why. I remembered my mom on my left side and James on my right side. My mom would always jot down notes of what she learned. James would even tease her for being like a student. After being lost on my thoughts, I grab my pen and journal to record what I have learned today – just like mom.

“Can you tell me what happened to your sister?”

Jacob tries to whisper to James but still it leaks to my ears.

“I hit my head on the tub and sprained my ankle because I slipped. The end.”

I raised my voice so that everyone in the restaurant will know. After church service, Jacob wanted to treat us lunch and of course, James would love that.

“Just don’t talk to her; she’s always not in the mood because she’s old.”

My ears rang after I heard James and started tickling his armpits.

“Hey! Don’t. .noooo! Hey, stop!”

The table moved and it echoed inside the restaurant. All eyes are on us.

“Look at what you did! We could’ve broke the plates because of you!”

James whispered loudly. Surprisingly, I heard Jacob laugh.

“What’s funny?”

I raised my brows at him and he keeps on giggling.

“Hihihi! James said you’re. . hihi. . old. Yet here you are. . . .hahahaha! acting like a kid!”

He was right. I try to hide my laughter but a cute squeak escape from my behind.

“Don’t tell me you just farted sissy.”

James could not contain his amusement any longer and they both start to burst to laughter. Unexpectedly, I laughed with them. It was very unusual of me.
