Outside of homes, people in body bags are carried out.The Tardis sits on the side of a street, The Doctor then walks out with Maya and Greg.
The stench of Victorian London then hits them, and they all look around in disgust, The Doctor then laughs "whew, the smell out here!" Maya nods "we couldn't have gone anywhere else?" The Doctor then laughs "what's wrong? It's the smell of humanity" Greg nods at him "the worst part of humanity" Maya then looks at all the body bags that are in the streets.
The Doctor then looks around in shock "we're in the middle of the cholera epidemic!".
Maya and Greg both look at him in shock.(Doctor Who Title Sequence)
Starring:
David Harewood - The 14th Doctor
Tilly Keeper - Maya Redburn
Parry Glasspool - Greg RedburnWalking down a street, The Doctor, Maya, and Greg walk past people crying.
In the distance, dogs can be heard barking, the sound of buildings being built is also heard.
Maya then says "so, this is the cholera epidemic?" The Doctor nods "as the cesspools started overflowing, they dumped all excess fluids into the Thames, contaminating it, and people were drinking it, making them sick, sadly in these times, health care isn't the greatest" Greg then looks at Maya who looks around shocked, as she sees people who look sick.
The Doctor then says "we can't do a lot, sadly this is a fixed point in time, changing this changes history" Greg then looks at The Doctor "isn't that good though? Surely stopping this would be good!" The Doctor then stops and looks at Greg "if we were to stop this, then certain things could never happen, stopping this might mean that they continue to allow it to happen, the only reason this ends, is because this happens, that's why anything happens" Greg looks at him.
Walking past a house, a woman then runs out screaming, with tears down her face "PLEASE, YOU'VE GOT TO HELP ME-" The Doctor stares at her "I'm sorry, but we really-" the woman then says "please, it's my daughter-" Maya's eyes then open up in shock and she says "what's wrong with her?" the woman says "she's different, she's not the same person she was, please!" Maya then looks at The Doctor, The Doctor then shakes his head at her, but Maya then walks into the house with the woman. The Doctor sighs "why? Why do they never listen?".
The Doctor and Greg both walk into the house, Greg steps onto a squeaky floorboard.
Looking around the room, Greg looks around at a damp house, full of mould over the walls.
The Doctor and Greg walk towards a door where Maya is stood outside with the woman and another man. The woman then says "this is my husband, Charles, and I'm Margaret-". Charles then says "hello sir, hello madam, thank you for help" The Doctor stares at him.
Margaret then opens the door, and they lay their eyes upon a child, who is tied down onto a bed, as the child sees them, it starts to scream. The Doctor then says "now, what are you?".(Commercial Break)
The door to the house is closed, as The Doctor and Greg walk outside together.
The Doctor points his sonic screwdriver, scanning around and he says "I'm just checking for anything that seems unusual" Greg then says "is it not possible that she's just sick from cholera?" The Doctor looks at Greg "whatever is wrong with that little girl, it's not cholera".
Inside the house, Maya sits down on a dirty couch as Margaret and Charles sit opposite her.
Margaret then says "would you like a drink?" Maya looks down at a water jug that has black bits floating inside it and she then smiles at Margaret "I'm okay thank you. So anyway, talk me through it, what happened to her exactly?" Margaret looks at Charles, and Charles then says "well, my dear it started a couple of days ago, in fact, it started exactly two ago, she went out on a walk on her own by the Thames, she does that walk frequently. She came home two days ago, complaining about a sore head, we ignored it, hoping it would go away, but the following morning she was a completely new person, she was evil, pure evil, like the devil himself".
Maya sits there and she continues to stare at them "and you don't think it could have anything to do with the cholera epidemic?" Margaret then stares back at Maya "I'm sorry my dear, what?" Maya then says "as in, you don't think it's linked with cholera?" Charles continues to stare at her confused until Margaret scoffs "what is cholera?" Maya then says "oh, it's not been named yet".
Back outside, The Doctor looks over at the Thames and he says "look at it" Greg nods "yeah, it looks and smells lovely" The Doctor then laughs "it's your faeces, not mine" Greg then says "not mine, I'm not even born yet" The Doctor nods "true, but it is your ancestors waste inside there" Greg then scoffs "that is disgusting" The Doctor nods at him "I'm certainly not picking anything unusual up in there, except for...well, you know" Greg nods at him "yeah, I do know".
Back inside the house, Maya walks over to the bedroom door of the little girl, Maya looks at the sign on her door which says 'Mary'. Charles then walks over "I'm going to fetch the priest, he's the only one able to banish the devil out of my daughter" Maya looks at him nervously.
