Mood Music- Let It Go by The Neighborhood (This is also the song playing in the bar so make sure it's playing after the line break; trust me it makes it so much better!)

!! T/W- ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION (LEGAL)

(By my calculations, Carmen is 21 at this point, that'll make sense in a bit)

Once we'd finished our meals, the tension was almost entirely gone, and we were talking just as old friends, catching up and inquiring about the others life. I hadn't forgotten what he had done, I didn't think I ever could, but I felt assured I had put it aside for the evening. After a while, Tyler paid the bill, as promised, and we headed out the restaurant into the cold night.

"So, should we head back?" Tyler asked, headed for the direction we had come from an hour before. Although, something was holding me back. A part of me inside wanted to savor the moments with him- another hour out couldn't hurt, could it?

"We could... but I was thinking." He turned around, slowly walking back toward me, brows furrowed.

"What is it?" He queried.

"Well, we're starting afresh, like we never knew each other... so what's something we've never been able to do before?" He stayed confused, remaining silent to await my answer, "Why don't we go for a drink?"

He relaxed, understanding what I was doing- by going to a bar, something we couldn't have done before, it eliminated any awkwardness that may have arisen from something we'd done together in the past. It was starting completely over, like the past ten years had never happened... however we both knew that they had, and I could tell we were struggling to ignore that.

"Sounds good. There's a pub just down the road, we can head there." I nodded in agreement as we made our way to the aforementioned location. Around ten minutes passed, and we were there, taking two seats at the bar and beckoning the waiter to take our order for the second time that evening.

"I've never been to a bar before... you know what May Li's like, forcing us to be a good influence. I had a glass of champagne at Carmen's engagement party, that's it."

"Hold on, Carmen's engaged?!" Oops, may have forgot to mention that.

"Yeah, some guy she met at college. He seems alright, actually- the weddings in a couple of months, you should come."

"I'd love to. Anyway, to answer the question, I've only been to a bar a couple of times. In St Lucia, Mum always drunk vodka and coke, so that's what I've ended up ordering- it's not bad."

"I'll go for that, then." Tyler ordered the drinks and before long they were set down in front of us- after showing our ID's, of course- and I sipped mine, intrigued and delighted by the taste that presented itself.

"That's really good." I remarked, setting the glass down.

"Yeah, it always reminds me of Mum..." He trailed off, his head turning away, fingers tapping aimlessly on the table in front of us.

"Do you miss her?" What a stupid question, of course he does, you idiot.

"Tons. I can't help but feel bad for the way I left her, but... I had no choice." I paused for a moment, journeying deep into his gaze to decipher the emotion he was presenting. A wave of confidence washed over me as words spilled from my mouth without a second thought.

"Did you... miss me?"

"Tons." The shape of a smile graced my lips, my focus moving anywhere but him. However, it was short lasting, as I remembered the situation that led to this moment. A frown crept onto my forehead as I downed the rest of the drink that was sat in front of me.
