T/W- LIGHT SWEARING
"Floss, I can't believe you took my room after a week! Would you jump in my grave that quick?!"
"If it had double the room and a massive wardrobe then yeah, probably."
Scott and Floss were giving us the tour, and its fair to say that Tyler was not happy to discover that his room had been made over with cupcakes and floral dungarees.
"Whatever, I have a whole flat to myself now." He always had been the bigger person.
"And finally, a very familiar room," Floss said, turning around to face us and smirking, raising an eyebrow, "to both of you, I'm sure." I hated her intensely.
I pushed her aside possibly a tad too aggressively and swung the door to my room open, pausing to take a breath as I laid eyes on the inside. It hadn't changed in the slightest, with my duvet still folded on my bad and my yellow and purple patterned walls still illuminating the space that held my childhood. Damn.
"No ones moved in yet, so its untouched." Scott said, stating the obvious but I didn't mind. I walked in, hearing Tyler walk in just after me, feeling my desktops and the rug underneath me that felt exactly like home.
"We'll give you two some space." Scott said, ushering a reluctant Floss out of the room and pulling the door ajar.
"This place," I started, looking up at the yellow-tinged light streaming down from the ceiling, "it'll always be mine, won't it?"
"Always." He said, without hesitation, sitting on the edge of the bed as I joined him.
"Remember when I thought you had moved on to Piper, and then you surprised me with the necklace right here." I said, getting up and moving to the exact place we had shared that moment nearly 4 years ago.
"How could I forget, especially given that you're wearing that exact same necklace right now?" He responded, moving to stand opposite me.
"Oh yeah," I said, pulling the chain out from inside my top and admiring the sterling silver heart charm balanced between my fingertips, "Even though I did lose it that one time."
"Don't remind me." He laughed, and I joined in. It was short-lived however, as I remembered the not-so-nice associations of this room.
"I stayed in here after you left. For two weeks. No one saw me, really. I just... well, Sasha says I moped, but I don't like that word, I prefer the term 'healed'." He took my hand, and I immediately grimaced at the gesture- we didn't do romance- so he dropped it, smiling with understanding, but looked me in the eyes none the less.
"I promise you, that will never happen again. You're not going to lose me again. Okay?" I leaned in and kissed him, his hand cupping my cheek, his taste like the flavours of my past, the kind of nostalgia that fills me with comfort and warmth. I pulled away after a few seconds, leaning down from where I was on my tiptoes.
"Okay."
"That was absolutely disgusting." Floss said, prompting us to turn around abruptly to see her poking her head round the door. This stupid place and it's no lock rules.
"Get out, Floss!" I shouted. Rather than leaving, a smile appeared on his face.
"Nice to know you haven't changed a bit, Jodes. I missed you." She said, before shutting the door and walking away.
"Did she just say something nice to us?" Tyler asked, genuinely shocked.
"I think so. Strange, huh?"
