claire woke up at 6, her usual time, with a unfamiliar warm against her back. she looked back and smiled, utterly grateful the last few days hadn't been a dream. she shook his shoulder lightly, hoping to wake him up before her parents barged in at 6:15.
"it's too early" he groaned, opening his eyes, regretting it, forgetting claire's room had the morning sunlight.
she laughed. "c'mon my parents barge in at 6:15 and unless you never wanna see me again, i suggest you go."
his eyes shot back open and he was at the window in 2 seconds.
he gave her a quick kiss on her lips before hopping out the window, just as her parents walked in. 10 minutes early.
she stood by the open window, fingers brushing her lips as she smiled.
"claire?" her dad questioned. "opening the window already?"
she jumped, almost forgetting they were there before pretending to open the window more.
"yep! nothing like fresh air in the morning."
her dad laughed. "whatever you say"
they each came over and gave her a kiss on the forehead before shutting the door.
she sighed, thankful she got away with that.
"that was close"
she almost screamed.
"jim! what the hell! i thought you left." she rambled
he laughed before hopping back in her room, sitting on her bed.
"jim"
"claire"
she rolled her eyes sitting down next to him, head on his shoulder.
"are you ok" he asked, voice calmer than it had been a second ago.
she smiled, "just tired i guess" she answered, shrugging.
he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"apologies for keeping you up so late Claire"
"i was already up wasn't i? she answered smirking.
he smiled and sat up, "well milady , i can't keep you up can i? text me, maybe we can make plans. " and just like that he was gone.
she smiled, watching him leave out the window before he parents yelling to come down for breakfast.
she almost skipped all the way down.
"you look happy" her mom observed.
claire just nodded, kissing enrique's forehead before sitting at her seat at the table.
"jim's coming back to school next week!" she said before starting on her eggs.
claire's mom looked confused. "you said he started at a private school"
she nodded, "it isn't for him"
her mom nodded, starting an uncomfortable silence.breakfast stayed silent, everyone eating to avoid conversation. claire cleared her plate, walking out the door, hoping to see jim in trollmarket. claire entered blinky's study, to see him lecturing jim about whatever.his eyes lit up when she entered and she smiled.
"hey jim, hey blink"
"ah the fair claire, will you help me over here?"
"what's up?" she asked shuffling over to the table they were hovered over.
"master jim and i can't seem to figure this out and he thought you might be of some help"
she smiled and nodded, before he saw himself out.
"hey" jim said, nudging her shoulder.
she laughed, pushing him back before before refocusing on the paper in front of them.
"feeling better?" she asked, still focused ahead of her.
he smiled and sighed. "yea, thanks claire, i know that could have gotten you in trouble."
he locked their hands from under the table.
she stopped and looked up at him.
"always come to me jim" she answered.
he leaned in quickly and kissed her sweetly.
she was about to say something when toby walked in, making them jump apart.
"jim, claire" he said, pulling a book out of the shelf.
"sup tobes"
"hey tp"
"blink needs you jim, forgot why"
jim sighed, and squeezed her hand before letting go and walking out of the room.
"so you guys are dating right?" toby asked
"i-um don't know what you talking about" she replied, turning away, hoping her face wasn't too red.
"you guys were holding hands" he stated.
"i wish i knew toby." she answered, she hadn't thought about what they could be.
ok that was a huge lie. she knew they liked each other but she didn't know where she wanted to go with it.
she turned to face him. "we just haven't talked about it yet"
he placed a hand on her shoulder. "hey, you both want this and you'll figure it out. i know you will"
she smiled.
"thanks tp"
