"Were you going to tell any of us about your diagnosis? Did Asher or Eli, did either of them even know? I can't comprehend... why you would be willing to hide this from us." The shock in Daniel's voice was clear, as Scout looked at her father with a bit of an upset and shameful glow in her eyes.

"Because I didn't want you guys to look at me, the way that you are all looking at me now, all right?" Asher was standing on the other side of the glass to listen, and she did not see him at all yet. "The way you guys looked at me after the school fight, the pity in your eyes. The way your disappointed eyes followed me, when I chose the high road, to be the better person and go into Juvie for my best friends. All the pity, it was always there and boy, I hated it. I had to be tough, I had to learn to compartmentalize in Juvenile Detention Hall, or I was just going to get myself killed. You guys will never truly understand how I felt, when I was going through that shit. Which was why I distanced myself from all of you, and reconnected with Ash. He knows exactly what happened to me, because it happened to him too. I lost any bit of a chance, at a normal life, a very long time ago. I didn't want to be dragging you down with me." Their mouths were agape.

"Are you seriously saying to us now, that you couldn't trust us at all? We only wanted what was and, what is best for you!" Amanda's temper was once again flaring up in a fierce rage, and a low growl once again, it came from Scout.

"Yeah, I know that you do Mom. But the thing is you don't always know all of the facts, and or what is best for me every day, which is the main problem, that needs to be addressed." Amanda's face looks taken aback, as Scout, looks over at Sam and Daniel, who stood on the other side of her bed, standing up across from Anthony and Amanda. "I wish that you could have found out in an easier way, under much better circumstances... but I know that you can't do anything to help me. If the treatment works, it works. But if it doesn't... then we have to be prepared for that side of the coin as well." She said and Asher had heard enough, as he turned away and found Hawk in the hallway next to him.

"You heard everything too, I'm guessing?" Asher asked quietly and the other guy nodded, as Asher sighed quietly. "Look... I'm not a huge fan of this sentimental shit, and I'm sure as hell not good at it," Hawk's eyebrows pulled together in confusion. "Look, I need to leave town for awhile, get my head together again. But I need you to have her back, take my place if you would." Asher said and Hawk looked up.

"No way, dude, seriously?" He asked and Asher sighed, nodding a little bit at his excitement. "But... I can't fight a bit like you." He said as Asher already, he was just shaking his head.

"You don't need to fight like me, Eli Moskowitz, to be a good fighter. She can teach you, and you guys will be a pair to be. Or, the pair to beat, all of which depends on the circumstances of the fight, of course. Fight like your self, be yourself, and you can regain a friendship or more, that everyone in the world of karate, had thought was long lost." Asher stated and Hawk's eyes glinted.

"Are you sure about this?" He asked and Asher sighed, looking around at the hospital around them.

"Scout needs to be the most happy person with her life, especially now, when it might not last for much more time, than a year. She needs someone who can make her happy, and... as much as I hate to say it, I can't do it. It isn't me." Asher said and Hawk lowers his head slightly, before he held out his right hand to him.

"Hi. I'm Eli Moskowitz." He said and Asher looked at him, then at his hand and a half-smile, half-grimace was on his face now.

"Asher Kreese." He said, shaking Hawk's-- no Eli's hand, for the first time. "Now, I believe that you have a job to do, and I have a vacation to get to." Asher said and Hawk nodded.

"Where do I tell her that you have gone off to?" Asher stopped at the one question, that he had not thought of at all. "She'll be asking for you." Hawk pointed out and Asher sighed.

"Tell her, that it doesn't matter where I am. Tell her, that if she needs me I'm not far away. Josh, my brother will be knowledgeable, he will know. He has to know where I'm at." Asher said and Hawk nodded slightly, as the older guy walked out of the hospital and went to his motorcycle.
