Scout was still at Miyagi-Do karate hours later, running through the basic drills and she wiped her forehead with her extra shirt, as her tank top was soaked with sweat and water so far.
Scout was starting to work with the bo-staff, until she stopped when she felt eyes on her. "Who's there?" Scout was surprisingly calm, considering her phone wasn't within immediate reach and she was not near enough to her home to get her family to show up immediately to help her. "Come out now or I'll call the cops." She said as she spun the staff around in her hand and she turned in a slow circle, until she spotted Hawk and she was swiftly lowering the weapon.
"Were you even really going to call the cops?" He asked and she looked at him, and she leaned against the staff with a sigh.
"Not on you. But if it was anybody else, damn right I would have." She pointed out and Hawk held up a six-pack of beers. "What are those supposed to be? Olive branches or something in that area?" Scout questioned and he scoffed briefly.
"Peace offering?" He sounded like he was questioning himself, as Scout put the staff to the side and Hawk handed over a beer to her.
Scout sat down next to the koi-fish pond and she cracked open the beer and she flicked the tab to the side, as it was balanced on the top of one of the Bonsai trees. "How the hell did you do that?" Hawk asked in awe, as he looked at the bottle cap as she was shrugging.
"Learned it in the crap-shoot." Scout murmured quietly and she tipped the beer back, and she took a big gulp of the beer bottle. "Your fake ID must be working wonders for you, huh?" She asked and he nodded, and he cracked open his own beer.
"It certainly does help with certain things. Like buying beer." Hawk noted and Scout smiled a little, and she was nodding very slightly.
"Not many people would drop everything to join an opposing dojo that was cataloged as the much "weaker" of the dojos in the Valley. So what is the deal?" Scout asked and he looked over at her with his eyebrows raised at her words. "And, no fucking bullshit this time around." She said as she took another sip of her beer.
"It was watching you defend your home. You looked like you were going down with the ship. I couldn't stand to watch the pain that Cobra Kai was just inflicting and they were dangerously close to hurting you permanently... I guess that the trigger was the fear of losing my best friend." Hawk admitted and she looked at the deck in the middle of the pond, as she was thinking.
"I never cared about the spiked and gelled-up hair or about the tattoo and shit. I just wanted to make sure, that you were safe. Now I don't have to really be as worried anymore about you." Scout murmured and she felt a gentle arm nudging her shoulder and she looked down at the ground.
Scout put her beer down and she leaned back against the stone behind her. She closed her eyes briefly, as the sunlight hit her and when she opened her eyes again, she felt a hand on top of hers.
Scout looked over at Hawk, who smiled a little and she flipped her hand over, as his fingers laced with hers and he gently squeezed her hand in his. "You really didn't care about it at all, did you?" He asked quietly and she shook her head. "And you and Asher?..."
"Myths and rumors." Scout quietly murmured and she shook her head at him and he sighed, as he looked at her hand in his. "Why do you care about it anyway?" She asked quietly, sounding a bit confused.
"Because even a blind man could see that he was into you. Probably still is, but we would never know." Hawk pointed out and Scout raised her eyebrows slightly, but didn't bother responding to that and she finished the beer in silence.
"Did he talk to you before he left?" She asked and he scoffed at her question, before she nudged him with her arm. Not hard enough to knock him over, but it was still enough to remind him that she meant business with the question. "Did he?" Scout asked again and he nodded.
"Yeah, he did. He basically just wanted to make sure that me and a few others were around to watch your back. He didn't say when he was coming back, but he implied rather heavily that he was going to." Hawk pointed out and Scout scoffed, as she rubbed the side of her head. "That cancer still going at you?" He asked and she nodded slightly, as she tucked her chin between the top of her knees.
"If I don't beat this, I probably won't see another All-Valley, let alone compete in one. Not exactly a nice thing to think about, but it is the reality of the situation, unfortunately." Scout was done with hiding the illness and it was nice to hear, but it also made a situation sad and put a damper on what's left. "Besides, he knows I can take care of myself." Scout pointed out to change subjects as Hawk shrugged at her.
"No one is saying that you can't, Scouty. But you don't really have to anymore, remember? You have two dojos to watch your back now. Not just one." He countered and she looked over at him with a small shrug, as she leaned against the rock again. "Hey, if you teach me Miyagi-Do, I will teach you the Cobra Kai style." He offered, before he heard quiet breathing and he looked over to her and realized that she was quietly sleeping.
