"You want a fun case?" I said, plopping a file on his desk.
I had been at the 99th precinct for a few weeks and I was loving it. Jake was sat at his desk, reviewing the file and I had pulled up a chair next to me.
"Ow, something going on here?"
It was Jakes best friend, Charles Boyle. He had just grabbed a cup of coffee and was returning to his desk when he noticed us paired up.
"I got a massive cocaine bust and I have I guy in the interrogation room that gave us his suppliers name. Wanna come on the bust?" I said, looking to Jake.
"Ah hell yeah, I can do this all day!" Jake joked.
"Yeah I know" I said, responding his very clear reference before leaving his desk.
"Jakey, it feels like we don't do cases anymore, well since she arrive" Charles said, taking the seat I had just left.
"I'm just helping her get settled in and this is a huge bust, sorry if I seem preoccupied.." He said, not even looking at his friend, instead at me pouring a cup of coffee.
"Well okay.." Charles replied before returning to his desk.
We headed down town to get the suppliers apartment, getting set up outside his door.
"You ready?"
"On your left.." I said, turning the corner to bust the door open.
"Your so cool, how do you think of these?!" Jake asked, looking to me and not to what I was staring at on the floor, rather who.
"Um Jake, down there.." I said, directing his attention to the dead man on the floor.
"Well shit-"
"Language!" I called, whilst dialling to get a forensics team down here.
"Are we gonna acknowledge the fact that cap just said language, god I love this! Not the dead dude, that sucks for him.." Jake said, awkwardly leaving the room.
"So the supplier was shot, six times in the back so this just became a murder case.." I said to Jake whilst climbing into the cop car.
"Any ideas on who would have had it out for his?" Jake questioned whilst putting on his seatbelt and starting the car.
"Well forensics in in there now and I can review the file because I currently have nothing.." I said in disappointment.
"Let's take a break, regroup. We can grab some lunch?" He asked, trying to brighten my mood.
"Alright, turn on some music.." I laughed.
Jake turned on some Drake, I could see he was pretending to enjoy this and I just knew Drake wasn't actually what he wanted to listen to.
"Jake?" I giggled.
"What, I'm so into these lyrics, Drake is my favourite.." He laughed.
"Turn on what you actually want, come on!" I said.
He grabbed his phone and began to play something different.
"I love Taylor Swift!" I laughed, sing along to the lyrics.
"Oh my god your perfect.." He muttered under his breath.
"What do you say?" I laughed.
"Oh nothing, just the lyrics.."
We pulled up to a pizza place and I was told to wait in the car. Jake went in and got us a pizza and some soda so we could sit in the car and eat.
"Hows the food?" He asked, taking a bite.
