Ruby, a doll that is supposed to be a non-verbal, piece of plastic, was real, alive, and speaking. How did this happen, I wasn't close to knowing.

But, she was speaking, and she had not much to say.

"H-hello."

Her voice was slightly groggy, like she just woke up after a nap.

"My name is Ruby."

She also sounded like she had a voice box, but it was never used and got old and rusted.

She pointed at Issac, then at Carmen.

"You hurt me, I-I'll hur-t y o u."

"I told you she was mad." I muttered. I would be scared for them, but as long as my friend's heads weren't going to be mounted on the walls, we would be fine. Besides, it's not like she can stand up-

She stood up.

We all backed away from the doll, as she was about half the size we were. I have to say, for a 3'4 foot doll, she was very intimidating.

She started to walk past us and grabbed water from the cooler. I wondered what she was doing as she poured the water all over Issac and Carmen. I laughed hysterically before getting water dumped on me too. I yelped at the cold, still laughing at the sight. "I'm surprised she could have such a good sense of humor!" Issac said over the laughter. We then heard a crackly laugh, it was Ruby. She obviously hadn't said anything for a long while, decades maybe. I would have thought about it more if Carmen didn't drag me and Issac away.

"What are you two doing?!" She whisper-scolded us. You remember how I said she's usually the one who scolds? Back to our regular schedule. "We're just having some harmless fun, it's fine!" Issac said. "But are we forgetting what happened, the reason why this all happened in the first place? We locked her in a closet because she's dangerous, and now she's trying to gain our trust by joking around." I got flashbacks to my nightmare, shook it off, and then spoke my mind. "What do we do then?" I asked. "Nothing my friends, absolutely nothing."

"What? How will that work? We just sit and stare at the wall all day?" Issac complained. He wasn't really the best at staying quiet, or being patient, so I had to shush him. "I think I know what Carmen's talking about. We pretend that we're oblivious to the fact she's manipulating us, and then catch her off guard later." "Thanks Dakota, that's exactly what I meant." Our plan of strategy was interrupted by a small, excited voice. "Found you! Now I have to hide!" Wow, is Ruby really for teens, or does she have the mind of a 4-year-old? She was probably trying to play with us to gain our trust like Carmen said. I took that as a way to set our plan into action.

"Hey, wait up!" I said, running after Ruby. It seems like today will be a fun day.
