"hello, sunshine." Connor greets me in the midst of our bed. I raise up on my elbows and smile at him. His blond hair facing all directions and his eyes blue as ever.
"goodmorning." i yawn, taking the covers off of my legs.
"first day of school, eh?" connor gets out of bed as well, hugging me from behind.
"yes, which means we can't be together all day." i pout. i turn around and quickly kiss him, "but! we will still see each other every night for dinner." he softly sighs and sits on the edge of the bed.
"it'll be boring without you here all day."
i pull my hair out of its messy bun, "i know. it'll take some getting used to." he walks to me and kisses me on the cheek before walking out of our bedroom.
today is the first day of sophomore year at NYU. connor and i have been together since we were freshman in high school. believe me, it's been a bumpy ride but its all worth it. i love him with every inch in me. and he feels the same.
i walk to our closet and grab a pair of black jeans and a tan colored t-shirt along with my white converse and throw them on. i do the rest of my 'getting ready' rituals and go to the kitchen, where connor is leaning against the counter.
"here, i made you a yogurt bowl." he hands me the bowl and we sit in silence, eating our breakfast.
i look down at my watch and my eyes widen, "oh gosh, i gotta go." i put my empty bowl in the sink and rush to kiss connor on the cheek.
"i'll see you later, bev!" he shouts as i close the front door of our apartment.
—
i rush up the stairs to the language building. as soon as i get to the top, the door flings open and down falls a pile of books. "oh my gosh!" i immediately squat down and start picking them up. gosh i hope they didn't get hurt. "i'm so so so sorry! i should've been watching where i was going!" i profusely apologize. i finally stand up with three textbooks in my arms.
"no biggie. thanks for helping me pick them
up." the sweet girl says, grabbing the book from me."of course. i'm beverly by the way." i reach my hand out, and quickly realize that her hands are full of books.
"everleigh." i smile at her before opening the door, "it was nice meeting you, beverly."
"you too!" i say.
i find my seat in the fourth row and set my bag down, the professor quick to follow. "hello, class!" the teacher shouts. completely crickets, "i said, hello class!" everyone deadly says, 'hello' in unison. "hope you all got rest over your summer break." the professor quickly writes his name on the chalk board, it reads prof. peterson. "now, let's start by going over a quick review of our plans for this semester."
—
i'm rudely awaken from my day dream in the middle of professor peterson's lesson. "i'm so sorry i'm late!" shouts a broad shouldered man.
peterson sighs and leads his arm to the rest of the class, "please find a seat, mr..."
"gavin. gavin barnes." peterson nods and continues on with his lesson. 'gavin barnes' sits down beside me and starts rummaging through his bag.
"you don't have to take notes." i whisper to him, he looks over to me and shines me the brightest smile i've ever seen, "he's gonna email us everything hes going over." gavin let's out a deep breath and sits up right in his seat.
"thank you." i flash him a smile before turning my attention back to the front of the class.
it's the end of class and everyone is gathering their stuff up. gavin stands up and smiles at me once again, "is it your first year?" i shake my head 'no'. "oh! same! i'm a senior."
"that's awesome. i'm a sophomore actually. it must be exciting to be graduating." i say as we walk down the steps to the exit door of the room.
"yeah i guess so. but, as soon as i graduate i've got a job waiting for me in tienesse. yet, i'll miss this city." i nod my head and walk down the stairs to the main grounds on campus.
"would you like to meet my friends?" gavin says, taking his phone out of his back pocket.
"i don't see why not." making a few friends never hurt anyone.
"great. well go to the cafe." i nod my head and we walk in unison to the nearest coffee shop/diner.
