gavin opens the door for me and leads me to a crowded table in the back of the cafe. "hey, guys!" he squeals, sitting down beside a guy with blue hair and wraps an arm around him, "this is my new friend, beverly." i shyly wave at everyone before taking a seat at the edge of the table.

"i think i had a class with you last year," i slowly nod my head, "i don't remember what it was called though. oh! i'm cassie by the way." i barely smile at her before the waitress walks over.

"i'll just have a lemonade, thanks." i say before she walks away.

"i'll introduce everyone to you!" i nod my head and look around the table, this is a very diverse group, "that's emily, aaron, ron, dan, log-," she cuts short before looking around the diner, "where'd logan go?" everyone shrugs their shoulders and goes on with their day. "well, i'm sure you've heard of him."

"i might have but i can't really place a finger on it." cassie makes an 'o' shape with her mouth before pulling her phone out of her back pocket.

"here," she swipes on her screen before showing me a picture of a dark haired, tattooed guy.

"oh, yeah. i remember him." she smiles at me and starts eating fries from the basket in the middle of the table.

i definitely recognize him. he's the most thing i resent. he's the bad boy on campus, i mean everyone knows him. and for the wrong reasons if i may say. he may be as hot as they come, but he's just a terrible person. we're talking about a heartbreaking, homewrecking drunk.

"there you are!" cassie squeals. the guy from the picture comes around the corner, a bright smile on his lips. he's dressed in a plain black t shirt and black jeans with a gucci belt around his waist. he looks like a dream.

"yeah, sorry," my lord his voice, "this girl i was with over the summer wouldn't leave me alone but i took care of it." he stands behind me and looks down. i look up at him in confusion. do i have something on my face? do i smell? "um, you're in my seat, princess." of course i am.

"oh my gosh! i am so sorry!" i grab my bag and stand up immediately, allowing him to sit in 'his seat'.

"i'm just kidding. i don't really mind." i let out a deep sigh before sitting back down. logan sits beside me.

he smells of fresh wood and his hair looks soft and fluffy. the rings on each of his fingers fit him perfectly. the jewels in his ears shine with each movement of his head. and gosh, the smile. it could light up a room. the complete opposite of connor.

"stare much?" he whips his head over to me and flashes me that stupid smile. was i staring?

"sorry. i was just thinking that your earrings are cute." he chuckles and turns his full attention to me.

"like a pretty little princess kinda cute or fuck you right here right now, kinda cute?" all of the guys let out a laugh at the table, except for gavin, who shoots me a sympathetic expression. this is probably the most embarrassing thing in my entire life.

"you know, for being 'that guy' here, you're pretty short." i'm just being honest. he's only 5'9. no one can be scared of a guy who's that height. he licks his bottom lip before shooting daggers at me with his eyes. shivery me timbers.

suddenly my phone starts ringing from my bag, i dig it out and read the screen. it's connor, "sorry, it's my boyfriend." i make sure to emphasize the boyfriend before walking a few feet from the table. i press the green button on my screen.

"hey, babe. where are you?" i look around and see a sign plastered behind the counter that reads, t&a's diner and coffee.

"t&a's diner and coffee." there's quick rummaging on the other line.

"who are you with?" his voice is serious and feels overbearing.

"this guy i met this morning. i promise you he's gay." it's not confirmed, but i certainly believe.

connor doesn't like me hanging out with random guys, or just guys in general. he's extremely over protective. especially since we broke up for about 2 months last year. i started dating a foreign student who was studying abroad. he was from spain and had the most beautiful lips i had seen in my life. but he was just there as a distraction from the break up. when connor found out, he classified it as cheating, which was ridiculous but i let it slide because i still loved him. honestly, i'd be mad too if i had to watch the person i love most in the world be with someone new.

"did you hear me!?" connor shouts into my ear.

"hm, what?"

"i said, have fun with your friends and be safe." i swallow down the knot in my throat.

"okay, i love you." i quietly say.

"love you, too." i quickly hang up the phone and sit back down.

"who's your boyfriend?" cassie squeals, enthusiasm fills her eyes.

"you wouldn't know him." i sigh, sipping the lemonade that the waitress had finally brought.

"i don't care! i want to know your story!" she leans closer to me, a huge smile.

"fine." i sit up straighter and look her in the eyes, "i was a cheerleader and he was a football player. it was freshman year of high school and i was just finding out about guys and all of that stuff. he had just moved next door to me a few months before,"

"a boy next door and high school sweethearts story?" she squeals, completely interrupting me.

"yes, it is. anyways, he was the perfect guy you see in every teen romance movie. he has beautiful ocean blue eyes and bright blonde hair, plus he's 6'2 so that's a plus." i shoot a daring glare to logan, who's eavesdropping on our conversation, "we started dating not long after knowing each other and we've just been inseparable since." cassie let's out a high pitched aw but logan seems to be unamused by my story.

"sounds like he's got a fat ego, and you're just feeding it." logan comments, i look to him with a bright smile.

"nobody's ego could be as big as yours, now could it?" he looks me in the eyes and subtly bites his lower lip.

"that's not the only big part of me." he chuckles to himself and tilts his head, "would you like to test the waters, princess?" oh my gosh. is he serious? can this guy get any douchier? i mean come on! he's just trying to push my buttons and i'm sad to say that it's fucking working.

"you're disgusting, logan!" the emily girl screechs! this girls voice is going to make my ears bleed.

"please, don't mind him." cassie lays a hand on my arm.

you know, i could really get used to this.
