Rosie had just turned 16 and was becoming more independent, or was at least trying to. When your dads are the famous John Watson and Sherlock Holmes it's hard to keep anything a secret from them, especially Sherlock. She could never get anything past him and it always annoyed her, he obviously didn't see it like this....he just wanted to protect her. He was her little girl (no matter how old she was.) John and Sherlock adored her both to bits and the last thing they'd want is her getting hurt, especially if that pain was caused by a boy who she thought she could trust. She dreaded the day she finally found someone she liked because she knew it would be ruined by Sherlock, he never meant to be like this but he thought it was his duty to protect her as best as he could and he wouldn't let anyone get in his way. Eventually that day came and Rosie knew this would be extremely difficult to get past her dads, especially Sherlock. She was walking home with her friend, Johnny, who she had been friends with for years but recently they had gotten a lot closer. They were talking about how Rosie would break it to her dads that she was into someone, they themselves didn't express their feelings for one another for a long while so she knew it would take a lot of convincing to let them know this was normal.
"I really don't know how to break it to them Johnny." She told him as she intertwined her hand with his. "You know what they're both like, they're way too overprotective of me and I just wish they'd give me a bit more freedom."
"I could talk to them if you'd like? They both like me so it's not like they could just turn me away."
"I wish it was that easy, they don't understand things like this that easily. I remember the first time I told them I fell out with a friend and well....I've never been more embarrassed in my entire life."
