The guy closest to Sam moved to attack him, but he quickly turned and engaged him first. Bucky quickly took out the second one, taking his gun in the process. We all darted toward the door across the room, all eyes watching the way we came. This had quickly gone to hell.
"They're gonna pin this on us," Sam huffed as he aimed his weapon across the room.
Zemo sighed, shaking his head, "We have a real problem now, so leave your weapons and follow my lead."
They both discarded their weapons as Zemo led us out the door and into an alley. We tried to appear nonchalant as we turned onto the busy street, but everyone we passed eyed us hungrily. Phones began to ding nonstop- probably alerting all of Madripoor that we were wanted. The chatter began to pick up as people grew excited, but we kept going.
"This is not good," Zemo worried aloud.
"No shit," I snapped, tossing him a disgusted glance.
The lights around us suddenly went out, and shots rang through the street, the sound echoing off the buildings. People scattered, screaming as our group barely dodged the array. I yanked on Zemo's arm, pulling him down a side street, figuring the other two would follow.
"Shit!" Sam yelled, both him and Bucky taking off in a different direction. I moaned internally, but didn't have time to complain, because a pair of bikes followed us. We raced down the pavement, and I kept an eye behind us as they drew closer.
"You could move a little faster you know," Zemo huffed over his shoulder.
"Are you kidding me? Look at what you have me wearing!" I hissed, but our argument was cut short.
They tried shooting again, but Zemo dove around a corner. I followed and stopped, waiting for them to round the corner as well. As they came flying around, a sheet of ice shot out across the road. Their bikes slid, losing their traction. With another efficient blast, they were knocked back, both unconscious. Zemo snatched one of their guns up and I eyed him warily. He tilted his head and held up his hands defensively.
"Fine- I'll allow it," I griped and he rolled his eyes.
More shots fired from above and we took off again. They were using the rooftops to their advantage. We dodged bullets for a few minutes until it seemed like we had lost everyone. As we came around another corner, a man charged out of a building to corner Sam and Bucky. The other pair of men were on their other side. I raised my hand to take out the one directly in front of us, but a shot hit him in the torso and he collapsed. Two more bullets embedded themselves into the others.
We all glanced up toward the direction the shots had come from, but there was nothing. Bucky noticed the gun in Zemo's hand and looked at me incredulously.
"You gave him a gun?"
"I didn't give him anything," I snapped back.
A voice spoke from behind Zemo and myself, "Well, this is too perfect."
I spun on my heel to face the woman that approached from the shadows, gun trained on Zemo. My mouth almost fell open as she pulled her hood off, revealing a familiar face. Sharon Carter. We hadn't seen her since the Accords and everything that had went down in Germany. Not that I had been too hung up on her whereabouts since then...
