❛ i wouldn't if i were you...
because there are consequences. ❜—
mark didn't realize it, but his simple action of grabbing miyong's hand had flustered her.
her heart thumped in her chest, and she swallowed harshly trying to suppress the ruckus happening down in her stomach.
the place where their hands met sparked a tingly feeling, causing a shiver to travel down miyong's spine.
they'd held hands many times as kids, and it never bothered miyong when they were younger.
but that was until she fell for him.
four years.
she had liked him for four years. since she was thirteen.
four years of hiding her feelings, and many more to come, miyong thought.
the pair walked hand in hand, all the way to miyong's house conversing with each other the whole way. there was never a dull moment when the two were together, as they would always be able to find something to talk about.
miyong unlocked her front door.
her parents weren't home. they never were.
the two raced up the stairs into her room, collapsing onto her bed, lying side by side, staring at the ceiling.
"boooo that took so long, you're such a slow walker, you dummy." miyong teased rolling her eyes, cracking a small smile that didn't go unnoticed by mark.
"says you, mi." mark rolled his eyes back at miyong, "we could've gotten here so much faster if you had quit getting districted, following every squirrel you saw on the way." mark shot back playfully, trying hard to hold back a smile.
"i can't help it that they're cute, mark. do you not think squirrels are cute? you're such an animal hater. i'm calling it— mark is an animal hater! mark is an animal hater! mark lee is a—"
in the blink of an eye, mark had covered her mouth with his hand and flipped over so that she was pressed under him.
he stared her straight in the eyes.
"you sure you want to keep repeating that, mi?" he questioned raising an eyebrow, "i wouldn't if i were you... because there are consequences." mark whispered mischievously.
miyong, who was currently pressed underneath mark, gasped silently as he towered over her— making her feel small and intimidated against his build. her stomach flipped.
"wh— what kind of consequences?" miyong breathed, her eyes widened slightly, and her ears faded into a light shade of pink as she looked into mark's eyes. she cleared her throat trying to rid herself of her breathlessness.
"the worst kind..." he replied with a smirk on his face.
"mark lee is an animal hater! mar—"
"tickle war!" he yelled, his hands coming in contact with miyong's sides, tickling her in every direction.
"no—no, pl—ple—please, mark!" miyong spluttered, short suppressed laughs inserted between her words. she giggled helplessly as mark continued to tickle her.
"s—stop! i— fine— i won't— maaaark!" miyong stammered, trying to release herself from his grasp.
"do you promise?" mark asked playfully.
"y— yes i do!" she begged, dying from the tickling.
"fine." mark laughed, as he let miyong free.
miyong exhaled, and flopped over on her bed, face buried in the covers. she could hear mark's perky laugh behind her, and she couldn't help but shake her head.
"i hate you, mark lee. did you know that you're the worst person to ever exist? you and your—" miyong said grumpily sitting upwards, not realizing mark was still hovering above her.
her forehead met his and she closed her eyes from shock.
she could feel his breath on her face, as she slowly opened her eyes to look at him.
"wh— what?" miyong asked as mark continued to stare at her.
"do— do i have something on my face or something?" miyong laughed, pushing mark off of her— ignoring the fact that her heart felt like it would pump out of her ribcage at any second.
"no," mark shrugged, "it's hard not to stare when your best friend is this cute." he said placing a finger on miyong's nose and adding a "boop" sound effect, before standing up and grabbing her laptop from the desk across the room.
miyong shook her head and sighed, playing it off cooly.
she was used to this. mark flirted with anyone and everyone. he never missed a chance to toy with someone. it was part of his personality.
she knew it wasn't real, but it still got to her each and every time.
she hated the way he made her feel helpless.
she was park miyong. she wasn't supposed to feel vulnerable.
mark smiled and sat back down beside miyong, grabbing a blanket placing it over the two of them.
miyong smiled back. the way he focused on the small details was miyong's favourite thing about him.
"so, what are we watching today, mi?"
"you know you can never watch pitc—"
"again? you want to watch all three pitch perfect movies again for the 40th time?"
"but mark!" miyong blinked innocently, nudging him. "you owe me for torturing me just there. you know that i hate being tickled." she said raising an eyebrow.
mark sighed. "fine, you win this time mimi. but i get to choose next time okay?"
"deal."
